Deanne is such an incredible and engaging instructor that I decided to minor in history thanks to her classes. Her feedback and thoughtful and constructive, and certainly helped me become a better student. My only minor complaint is that her choice of HIST240 text book (Schoppa) is an absolute slog. Other courses had much better texts, though!

As a slow reader, the course was a bit of a nightmare at many instances, as interesting as it was. Definitely recommend getting an audiobook version for the novel part of the course, if available. Otherwise, she gives good feedback, very understanding, interested in your analysis and ideas, promotes critical thinking

Deanne is my absolute favourite teacher. Her lectures are super interesting because she is so passionate about what she teaches. Great sense of humour and always willing to help when you need it. You will walk away from her class having learnt a lot.

Deanne is wonderful! She is passionate, knowledgeable, cheery, and kind. I love her class, and it's really not that difficult to do well. Easy midterm, write a good paper, and you're golden. Participation is also key! The only complaint I have is how early the class is - I hate nearly falling asleep listening to something so interesting.

Deanne is an amazing teacher, she is accommodating and understanding. Her lectures make sense and her exams never have any surprises on them if you go to class and do the homework. Best History teacher I've ever had!

In my opinion, she is a good instructor and I have a degree of respect for her, she is pretty accomodating to students, her lectures are well-organized and planned and keep you engaged.Her outline is written in this serious generic gargin, but I found her to be helpful and quite fair.

Deanne was such a great teacher I enrolled myself into another one of her classes. She is leads her lectures knowing exactly where she wants to end up, never leaving any confusion among her students. She is very clear. She is also always willing to help you in any way she can. I would recommend her for any student.

It is amazing that someone could be so passionate so early in the morning. Deanne loves what she teaches and loves getting her students involved. Classes were always interesting and often fun. The course was a lot of work, but she was always available with advice and guidance. Truly a great professor.

Awesome Prof. Engaging, entertaining, tries to get everyone involved, and really makes sure you understand what's going on. She marks FAIRLY. She stresses that papers are a big deal so work accordingly! She'll tear apart a sub-par paper but really praises a well done one (I've experienced both). Read discussion materials. Easy tests/formats.

Deanne is a an amazing teacher. Very personable, always there to help and is very sympathetic. She replies back to e-mails quickly and is always available outside of class to help. Interesting lectures and makes the students work for their marks but definitely is not a hard marker.

She makes sterling clear notes, and can hold a lecture like you wouldn't believe. Very cheery and personable, with lots of student interface in her group discussions. Midterms are a piece of cake. WARNING: If you are not a morning person, avoid that class. It sucks to sleep through something you love...
