I mean, I never felt unprepared for the assignments that she gave cause she covered a lot in class but she just didn't teach it too well. She's alright as a person but as a prof she wasn't my favorite.

Not only does she assume individual's sexual identity which is way out of line, she speaks in a way that if you're not a 3rd year SOCI major, you will have no idea what the hell she's saying. Very hard to communicate with students and ALWAYS gives students a puzzled / "are you stupid?" face when they're wrong.

Professor Brock is clearly very knowledgeable. She lacks the ability to connect with her students and her lectures are somewhat disorganized. Prepare to do most of your studying in tutorials and on your own. Attendance is mandatory for lectures.

Very interesting course material, however she made it really boring. Long lectures, usually off topic, very unclear when attempting to answer students questions. Also super strict if you're talking or using your phone in class (will kick you out for the latter).

A lot of people had issues with her approach to the black students, but I think she was fair, she was pretty good to me. Some students were really loud and I would be annoyed to. She did ok

The topic was actually quite intriguing, but my hopes for this course were disappointed by Deborah. The class discussions never happened because everyone was terrified of her, and we had no idea what text we needed to read. Generally, it was a waste of my money.

just took this one it was ok but im not sure why she didnt make more of an effort to communicate with students. she actually made my friend cry some of her comments were really cruel. if she has a problem with a student she should do it privately and not in class

I took this course in s2. Despite many of the comments, I thought she was nice. However, she was SO DISORGANIZED! She skipped so many of her slides. She gave out take-home exams, but only told us on the last class before the exam. So, any previous studying was useless.

Professor Brock was awesome. The textbook was used heavily, as it was created specifically for this course by Dr. Brock. The readings were very interesting, and the workload/expectations were fair. She would get visibly annoyed when students wouldn't participate. Still,I would definitely take a course with her again; a great experience over all. :)

Great prof!! Was close to dropping this class but kept it and am very happy I did. She was extremely interesting. Just go to every class and participate and you will enjoy it. I'm not one to usually enjoy classes, but I can honestly say I enjoyed this one.
