Let me start by saying that this professor has an insane amount of work. From her discussion posts and essays. She is a tough grader and will mark you for almost anything, I received a D for simple tense errors and improper citing. Come on a D? You will need the text book in order to properly cite, and read all she assigns.

Expect a ton of busy work. Grades incredibly tough on assignments that are worth more points. She expects you to know every single literature term, and marks off big points if you don't. Also, she is super feminist, and almost everything you read has something to do with this. I would not take her again, take someone else if you can.

Comment:

Professor Charlie is definitely one of the most knowledgeable instructors at AVC. Her class is highly demanding of students to complete all their assignments on time. She gives students plenty of time to submit assigned work as well as giving ample warning of upcoming essays. As long as you do your work the tests should be a breeze.

She grades harsh when it comes to the finals and the independent writing projects. The points that mean more for the grade she really grades low. I feel she does listen to feedback of students who are sincere. I enjoyed the course but felt that she wants to give the lowest possible grade for non academic reasons.I learned lots though.

Unfair grader! Time consuming discussion posts 3-4 times a week worth only 10% Expects everyone to be pro literature majors. Merciless, discouraging demotivating. I gave this class 110% and that wasn't enough for her She is insane! 2 hr exam in which she expects us to complete 14 essay qu. and 2 full length essays Stay away! Loves giving Ds & Fs!

I thought her class was very tough, but fair. I took her online 102 class. Very demanding, but I learned a lot. I wouldn't recommend taking any english class online because she makes up for the lack of classroom discussion with a ton of homework. I thought she was fair though

Her online class is insane. Posting at least 2-4 times a week and the online work is only 10% of your final grade. She gives 2 tests and 2 essay's which are hard.She never defends her grading either. She is a terrible teacher! When I asked for help all she did was refer me to her syllabus. She does not grade fairly. Stay away if you can.

This class was fairly easy if you put effort into it. We read 4 books and for the tests wrote essays about what we had learned in class from them. So pay attention and take notes in class and you should do fine. Start early as possible and work consistenly on the 10 page paper. Giving her a rough draft of it will help. She was interesting to take!

Prof. Charlie knows her stuff. As long as you pay attention to the class discussions and READ the material then you'll do fine. In English 259 we had to write a 10 page essay due on the last day - as long as you plan ahead and send her a rough draft then you won't have a problem. She's easy to talk to and very helpful. Don't procrastinate!

I loved this class!! If you enjoy reading then take her...i didn't read 2 of the books and passed the tests with a C!! On the 2 books i read, i got A's. She explains everything, goes through everything that will be on tests and the final is a take home. The final project is really easy and she's an easy grader. I don't know why people would say she
