She said that the syllabus was more important than what she said in class regarding assignments, but constantly changed the syllabus. She often skipped, cancelled, or was late to class. Her grading criteria was unclear and inconsistent, as she'd grade students on different standards. She also tried to lead deep discussions that nobody was into.

120 is Calvin Theatre Company, so I didnt really get to see Doc be a professor as much as other reviewers. But as a director, shes great. I was on the set construction crew, so I didnt have much professional interaction with her, but she runs a tight ship. In class, we did something different each week like lectures or games. There was one quiz.

There was no syllabus, just a (tentative, useless) schedule. For the entire semester, I (after much digging) found out that I had gotten a 72 on the midterm. I also got a vindictive e-mail regarding our final project, when we'd had no idea what we were supposed to be doing. She couldn't even remember who in my group had presented on what.

I had two main issues with her. First, she wasn't very clear in her expectations for assignments. She would not go over that in class even when asked to. When you would email her with questions, you typically would get a 1-3 sentence response. Second, she didn't explain the central criticisms this course hinges around very well.

Freeberg knows a lot about acting and is a great director, but, usually people would have to question her about every specific on papers etc. Make sure to check moodle, though the readings hardly factored into the class at all. When she 'lectured' it was boring and usually irrelevant--but I enjoyed working with and performing group projects.

What an interesting Professor. She is often sick or has a sick family member. Her class was super easy which was nice considering it is just core. Would defiantly recommend if you are looking for an easy way out of CAS credit.

My advisor signed me up for this class and I wanted to like it, I really did. Unfortunately, I just felt as if I was wasting my time. The course material was random and irrelevant. I am not a better or smarter person for having taken this. I feel bad b/c Doc is a great person but this class just shouldn't be included as CORE.

An overall great professor. I took her for a summer course, and enjoyed her thoroughly. She did make taking her course fun, and eased the burden a great deal by reducing the size of the assignments. The grading was pretty fair overall.

Prof. Freeberg is very disorganized and unclear. Grading is based on four things for the entire course. She isn't ever clear about what she wants for an assignment. Cancels class/cuts class short a lot. I didn't really feel like I learned anything. We mostly just watched random movies and then talked about them. Although, nice lady.

I love Doc, but she is so disorganized. I am a A student who has lived for performing arts for most of my life, and I made a lower grade than I expected in the class. She marked down my papers, but never explained why and also did not prepare us for the final at all. She is a great woman, but not the best prof.

Don't take Freeberg! She is extremely disorganized and unprofessional. She tries so hard to be your "buddy" that she is not a very good teacher. Her grading is inconsistent and she never makes comments about why you were marked down on a paper. Its remarkable that she manages to make the course content so inanely easy, and yet no one does well.

She is FABULOUS! She is a hard grader, but if you ask her for help she'll be more than happy to help you. She has a great personal relationship with the students who try. You will only get out of her class what you put into it. Scatterbrained at times, but VERY informed about her craft.

This professor is extremely unorganized. She never lets us know what to expect until we get the grade back. Additionally, it takes her forever to get anything back. For our first test, it took about 3 weeks.

I liked this class, she is very animated! I think people don't like prof freeberg b/c they don't like theatre and don't understand it. She makes even an intro class fun. the group project is hard though, especially if your group contains members who completely slack off.

This is one of the WORST classes ever. This woman should not be teaching acting since she knows NOTHING about the subject. I have no idea why Calvin pays her since she's late and misses class and barely teaches it!
