She crams too much information into each class and doesnt help you if you have questions. She gives you so much homework along with a project so you feel overwhelmed. The exams are almost impossible to pass with a class average of 53%. Shes a nice lady but if you want to pass the class take it with someone else.

One of the hardest classes I've taken. The exams are super hard. Cramming 3 chapters in one week for the final. She just doesn't seem to care. The class average on exams are 50%. There is obviously something she is doing wrong if the class can't even pass an exam!

Very difficult professor. It seems as though she realizes towards the end of the semester that she hasn't covered most of the material and then crams it all in. There are chances for extra credit that gets added to your exam scores, but then again, are three points really going to make a difference on exams that have a 55% average?

I wish I would've had Debra for every class she teaches. The material is hard, and you will have to put in a lot of work, but that is just because it's accounting. She cares about students, organizes the class extremely well, and will put her best effort into answering your questions.

Prof. McGilsky is an AMAZING instructor. She's the type of lady who brings candy to class on Halloween and is always super helpful, nice, understanding, and caring. She made account super easy and she has my highest recommendation.

Professor McGilsky was awesome. She made the material understandable and offered extra credit. The exams are really hard but if you do all the homework and do well on the project's it can help your grade. I would recommend taking the class with her.

Class moves fast. It is not required to show up to class but I highly recommend it. Professor loves to use lots of note packets, paper copies of practice problems, and online homework on "Connect". I averaged C's on all my exams but received a solid B in the class due to the homework and "project" she had us do. Dont be lazy and you'll be fine

Prof McGilsky is a really nice lady, she's by far my favorite professor. The class is tough, but she has a very organized teaching style that really helped me learn the material. She gives an opportunity for an extra credit point for pretty much every class period. I would definitely take her again for any class!

Debra is a great prof to take ACC 250 with. I struggled through the entire course, but she genuinely cares about her students' success. The exams are rough and you really have to study to do well on them, but she also gives easy points for homework and a project (which is not "easy") as well as extra credit for in-class assignments.

I took her for 250, 311 and 511. Mcgilsky is the best professor I have ever had at CMU. The classes aren't the easiest in the world but she structures her class to where you learn so much. You are allowed to work with others on your projects which is helpful. The grading scale is already curved and she will bump up exam scores if needed.

Professor McGilsky is excellent! She is always available and more than willing to help. Although, accounting can be tricky, reading the book and doing the chapter review she has made which are optional, will definitely help prepare you for the pretty tough exams.

I had McGilsky for 311 and 511 - she was fantastic for both. I don't recommend her if you want to have an easy class, but if you actually want to gain something from the course, she's your girl. Exams are difficult, but there is extra credit. Homework is collected, but not graded for correctness. Textbooks for both classes were very helpful.

The exams are hard, but my brain just doesn't understand accounting, and I hate it... But professor McGilsky is super nice and is always accessible during her office hours. If you want an A you really have to study hard for the exams. HW is pretty easy and she gives out in class assignments worth a few points of extra credit.

Exams are miserable. She normally went over on class time because we could never get through the material before class was over. She lets you have a cheat sheet but that still doesn't even help you on her exams. 4 exams and 6 projects. Material is tough and she expects you to know it all the first time around.

Prof. McGilsky is my favorite professor at CMU. Accounting is not an easy subject, but with McGilsky I am passing the class with flying colors. Every class she hands out fill-in-the-blank notes, provides exam study guides, and has in-class assignments that count as e.c. towards exams! The book is needed for homework. She is always willing to help!

It doesn't matter how smart you are. This class is ruthless and she flies through powerpoints and expects you to know everything. Exams are impossible to get done in the amount of time. Get Hood avoid McGilsky at all cost. Great for 250 horrible for 311.

Terrible, she expects way too much out of you for your first tax class. She reads off a powerpoint the whole class and flies through it. Personally I think that ppt are not a good resource to keep students attention. Accounting is hands on-working with problems not flipping through slides.

Debra is a great lady! She gave out so many easy points. I suck at accounting but she does everything she can to keep us interested and involved daily. The subject is hard and dry but interactive assignments and projects actually help you learn. Would highly recommend for non-accounting majors!

Awesome professor, incredibly nice lady, she truly cares about you and will do everything she can to help you, but you definitely need to put the work into the class. I got an A in it, but most people didn't do quite well, which I don't understand because there are like 350 points given to you for free pretty much through homework and projects.
