I was A student until this class. His tests are crazy hard and although I did every Db, assignment and test I got a C. The DB assignments were very time consuming and I wish I would have taken this course in a semester with easier classes so I could have dedicated more time to it. Had no idea it would be that hard.

Dr. Ringquist was one of the best professors I had at Central. He makes you work for it, but his door is always open for me to speak with, in order to help me understand the material. I took him for additional classes and they were just as informative. He has been an inspiration in my course of study at CMU, and I am thankful I took his class.

He almost has too much knowledge to be teaching an entry level government class. He moves really fast and give nothing to really study for exams. Only thing he did was gave us chances to earn some points back on exams by finding the right page in the book. Very confusing, and boring.

Honestly, stay away from this teacher. In his lectures he will lose you in what he's talking about. He will try to crack jokes but they are awful and pointless. His exams are hard because his lectures suck. He will fly through power points and leave you in the dust. He should retire it's that bad.

He rambles on and on about nothing. Half the time, you don't know what you are even covering. You get him on one subject and he jumps to the next, like no big deal. He doesn't give many assignments, but has a lot of discussion board points. His tests are nothing like what you talk about in class, they are all from the book.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. His online chat rooms are pointless, he rambles on about nothing. His tests are nothing at all like what you read or what is on his power points for that matter. Unless you have a death wish for your grades, take it with someone else.

Dr. Ringquist is a good teacher. I walked away from the class knowing so much more about Politics. This was my first class at C.M.U. The only reason I have a 3.0 is because the tests are mainly multiple choice which I'm not a fan of. You actually have to KNOW the material to pass. I had a great experience. Oh, participation can save your grade.

Not sure why people think he is difficult. Had A's in all 3 classes I took with him. Very effective, tests are difficult but fair and he is extremely helpful. He demands understanding of the material and expects you to work at it. Very easy to get an A if you put in the work and read the discussions articles

Look for other PSC 105 professors. I was 4.0 student however his class is just ridiculously demanding for a 100 level course.

Worst professor I have ever had. Before this class, I was very interested in PSC, but after taking this class, I never want to take another. Ringquist is the definition of monotone and is the farthest thing from enthusiastic. Everyone around me got Cs & Ds on the exams after studying for hours, literally. HORRENDOUS prof & I do NOT recommend him!

Dr. R is the most knowledgeable prof I have ever had. He is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the American Presidency. His class is VERY interesting, and you will learn a lot. You really have to put in the time to study for the detailed essay questions. Lectures can be info overload at times, but he is down to earth, funny, & understanding.

Exams for this class are all essays. He gives 15+ example questions per exam but only asks 5 on the exam. Expects deep detail and clarity on each question but only gives you about 15 minutes per question (5 questions in 75 minutes). Lecture is pointless, but required. Unless you live and breathe political science I would avoid.

Ringquist is an extraordinary professor. He lectures about things that the pertain to the subject. He uses current events for examples. He uses powerpoints and provides sample exam which all of the answers from the exam can be found. Attendance is mandatory, if you go there is no way you can fail. I loved his class!

Super bright, friendly, and knowledgeable. His views differ from mine BUT AT LEAST HE HAS THE INTELLECT, DECORUM, AND SENSE to stay focused, objective, and balanced UNLIKE some prof's. Take one of his classes you will enjoy his Mid-West charm and thorough, intellectual approach. Del's great-wish more were like him,Petras, and Vinson.

It was a some what good class, learned a lot from the book not the lectures. Lectures were pointless. The students do all the work outside of class and teach themselves about the president, but attendence is mandatory. Read the book for sure, and take a lot of notes. Exams are all essay and hard to finish on time. 4 questions in one essay question.

He cannot lecture at all. But he is interesting. He gives old test questions before each test and offers extra credit. Pay attention and go to class and do the old questions. Not a bad class.

This class is unnecessarily hard. The exams are all essay, and each essay question consists of 5 questions. Good luck finishing on time. Class does not help you when it comes to exams, but attendance is mandatory. Never clear about what the exams are on. Don't take any class with him if you can help it.

Dr. Ringquist's class was the most difficult and rewarding class I ever took while at CMU. He actaully makes you work for your grade, and if you do what you need to and put in the proper time you will do well. Slackers have no place in his class. He is a quality professor.

Horrible Teacher!!!! Very hard to understand and he in unreasonable in his demands. A group project was a major part of our grade and even though both of my group members dropped out of the class he refused to provide any help or assign me a new group. He expects the student to teach the class
