Prof. Johnson really wants his students to not only know the general ideas of economics, but in a comprehensive way. His lecture was hard to follow. And be ready to read. Exams are hard, but grades can be boost up by others.

A super nice guy but his lectures are a little bit all over the place. Somewhat hard to follow what he is saying. Exams are kind of hard but there are plenty of other opportunities in the class to boost your grade up.

Johnson is a funny and respectable man who lacks understanding of the dynamic and complex system that exists within an economy. His style is foolish for students taking an introductory economics class. He provides "appropriate" Keynesian economic policies without consideration of other economic schools of thought. Very little in class is useful.

I had him for my mandatory 1-credit UNIV class. He is very easy going and makes a lot of jokes. I recommend taking his class because he's a good guy.

Prof Johnson is an overall really energetic and nice guy. When it comes to teaching an introductory economics course, he struggles to get the main ideas across without making it confusing. He flips through his lecture slides very fast which can be frustrating. There is a midterm and a final (which are really difficult), 3 papers, and quizzes/hwk

Johnson is THE MAN. The type of guy you want as your teacher. Don't need to purchase book. All quizzes are taken online. Need to show up to a majority of lectures to understand material. GO TO OFFICE HOURS, it pays off because he offers a generous 10% curve and values your effort. Two tests (Midterm and Final) which are fair. Take this class.

Prof Johnson is such a nice man. Cares a lot for his students. However, his lectures are confusing and not super helpful. Be prepared to teach yourself the content. Tests are pretty challenging. However, he always gives extra credit at the end of the semester so fairly easy to get an A.

Derek Johnson is the nicest man on this planet. He's always willing to help students and he really wants you to succeed. Go to his study sessions and keep up with the work and you should be fine, tests are pretty tricky though and require a lot of knowledge of the concepts. Discussion is pointless I honestly never went and it didn't matter.

his lecture slides are horrible, you have to really pay attention to what he says which is hard because hes all over the place and gets off topic now n then. he has a lot of energy when he talks. other assignments arent bad at all and hes very reasonable and helpful if you go to office hours

Johnson's exams are actually hard, but the key to his class is to just pay attention to his lectures. This class is NOT about memorizing. It is actually about learning concepts and being able to apply them. Try not to Quizlet the hw or quizzes unless you truly don't know it or need to check your answer. The homework and quizzes help train ur brain.

He cares about his students and their learning. He goes on tangents frequently though they are always related to economics (and have helped me understand principles in other econ classes :) AEH is very dry but he makes it interesting. If you are an econ major though I would recommend something else, we have so more stimulating econ courses.

Johnson is a solid choice for any Econ class, especially an intro course. He makes economics interesting which is good because it can be dry sometimes. Very energetic and passionate about the subject.

Professor Johnson was a great professor - occasionally during lectures he would go all over the place but it was super helpful that he posts the power points online. I took him again for macro because I got used to his teaching style and heard he was better than others. He does "extraordinary achievement" which boosted my grade a bunch.

Derek Johnson is one of the funniest professors and gives interesting lectures. However, he goes through slides fast so it can be difficult to take notes while in class. I found that reading the textbook on my own helped me to understand the material much better. The exams were hard, but theres weekly quizzes and homework to bring your grade up.

Prof Johnson is a super great guy. He is friendly, approachable, and genuinely loves what he teaches. The course is not a lot of work, but his lectures are definitely difficult to follow which makes understanding the content difficult. You will get out what you put it. Its also a very test heavy course.

This guy is great. His lectures were very dysfunctional, he stutters, and is hard to follow along but thats part of his charm and what makes him interesting. His exams werent easy but not too bad if you follow the readings/lectures. Dont be surprised if he repeats part of a lecture by accident though.

One of the best professors I had at Uconn. Very good and cater professor. Lectures are unorganized and dysfunctional, so be sure to pay attention. Class is divided up by a midterm, final, 3 short papers, homework and quizzes. Most of the homework and quizzes are very easy, and the 3 short papers arent a problem. Be sure to study for midterm/ final

Johnson is the absolute sweetest guy ever. The class can be really hard at some points but he hosts study sessions that are super helpful. Make sure you read the book because most of the hw and quizzes come directly from it. Tests are pretty tricky and you need to be able to think very conceptually to figure out the harder questions.
