Comment:
Lectures are extremely dry and boring and she doesn't use slides so it's hard to follow along. 2 reflection papers & a take home midterm and take home exam. All exams and papers are based on the readings. In lecture she only expands on the readings. Must buy the course pack. I would avoid taking a class with her again

This course was amazing because it was all based on class lectures. The recipe for success in this class is simple: ATTEND, TAKE NOTES and use the notes for your answers in the take home assignments. (No Exams or essays, its all take home and personal responses). Professor Young is also very approachable and helpful

Bad Lecturer. lectures are dry, she has no lecture slides so if you lose track for a minute then you she difficult to follow.. With that being said she sets the class up in a way that it is easy to do well. Just 2 small papers and 2 take home exams. She hasso many readings you have to do each week. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HER unless u take good notes.

midterm paper (40%), small assignment (10%), and final exam (3 essays, open book, 50%). a few documentaries shown in class. hard to follow. used a $90 coursepack full of cases & articles.

Lectures are interesting and she usually incorporates films or documentaries in the lectures. She does not grade her own papers, and she is very unhelpful and directs you to the t.a. with questions regarding grades. Very arbitrary grading system, luck of the draw.

Excellent prof. Extremely interesting, inspires really good discussions and has great interaction in class. Never puts you on the spot but you can really engage. One of my favourite classes.

Professor Young is probably my favourite law professor to date. She knows her facts and is the most engaging lecturer I've had. If you pay attention you'll note the hilarious one-liners she tosses into her lectures. Her course is one paper, one exam, and if you do all the readings and conduct good research for the paper you can get an A easily.

She is a good professor overall. She does not use power points, she usually just lectures and the lectures are extremely helpful. She basically summarizes the text book chapter. She is also really helpful if you miss a lecture and is always available during her office hours. Ps: OPEN BOOK EXAM IS SWEET!!

This Prof may be knowledgeable, but she does not know how to engage the class at all. It is almost impossible to pay attention for 3 hours. The exam was open book, but don't be fooled. It was long and had obscure essay questions. This class covered very mundane, grade 11 material, not at all what I expected from a second year course.

BOOORRRINNNNG!!! It was hard keeping awake for this class... the tone and lecture are too dry! She's very nice as a person but not a very good prof. She is unclear about many things and her assignments are confusing. I hope there are better law profs out there!

Although there are no slides for this class, her lectures would render them useless because they are so detailed and informative! As long as you can take good notes her lectures will surely give you a excellent grasp of the material. Prof. Young truly is a excellent teacher, without depending on slides to get her points across

Interesting class. This prof understands and explains the issues well. I think she is a practicing lawyer so the issue of Wrongful Convictions is meaningful to her. The midterm and final paper were very easy and short for a 4th year class. There was a lot of opportunity for discussion and the group presentations were good too.

Very hard teacher to follow. Speaks in a dry monotone. If you get lost it is very hard to get back onto what she is saying. No Visual material makes it hard for people who are not audible learners. Her Voice does not change to add emphasis to any of her points and she lacks any humour.

Very informative criminal law class, gives open book exams but you must know your material or you waste your time flipping through the text book. Straightforward lecture material and good humoured prof.
