Wonderful to have had the opportunity to interact with Professor Dubrule. Sit down with her and talk about the course content! It has been one of the high point of my intellectual life to have had the privilege of taking many cups of tea with Diane Dubrule, while chatting about philosophy.

This is Diane Dubrule herself--now retired. Of course, it was a HISTORY of Philosophy course, so too much history, eh? If you were bored with history and not a Philosophy Major, there was plenty of theory in it from the ORIGINATORS of philosophy. I'd rate myself as a slightly above average prof. Sorry to go against the tide, but gimmy a break!

She is an amazing professor, so smart and she knows the material so well. I went into the class without any philosophy background, and she taught so clearly that I was able to follow. Hard tests though.

interesting lectures; she knows her stuff and puts a lot of effort into the course materials; demanding tests - know the sample questions inside and out, or you'll be sorry!

A very cute grandmother. She's an okay professor but if you're new to philosophy, don't take this course. Her course was interesting to build on what I already knew about Plato and Aristotle but as an introductory course it would have been terrible. I struggled to get a B in her class having already studied the works in other classes.

I took this course Fall 2004. Dubrule is a decent professor, but her tests are far too hard!

What could be worse than this teacher? NOTHING! She only tries her hardest to tear you apart, stab you on your back! Beware and don't ever think of taking any of her classes, or you'll feel like in hell!

the class average is 46%, a few bad marks is acceptable but an average that low must show a problem with the prof

Very easy web based class. Two multiple choice exams, 3 <300 word assignmenments, and online participation made up all of your mark.

She was an awful teacher. I wouldn't recommend her. She's been teaching this course since 1969. She is not open to new ideas or questions. Her tone is boring, and her exams are only effective if you've taught yourself the information.

GO TO THE CLASSES AND TAKES LOTS OF NOTES. Though she does post mini lectures on the website the exams are hard as hell. She knows her stuff and tends to take the philosophers side on a lot of things...not very open to new ideas or questions.

talks too much about history, not enough philosophy. thinks she is smarter than the ancients simply because of the fact that she lives a later time period. midterms and exams are too difficult.

This professor knows the subject cold, but she gets bogged down in specifics too often, and cannot convey the big picture. The midterm and exam are very difficult; know your stuff! oh, and whoever wrote the comment on 4/25/03 is a complete idiot.

Boring, but if you're a philosophy major a required course, so take what you can get. Might be the material, not the professor. We'll see next semester with a different class.

This was a great course cause she made it interesting. Though she made way too many STar Trek comments.
