Comment:
This class lacks real structure. The assignments seem easy, but her grading is very random. You won't know your final grade until the end of the semester. The class is very boring, and you will spend the entire time watching the clock. She is a very sweet woman, but the class is confusing to say the least.

Professor Scharper is such a nice old woman. But her class is so boring, you basically stare at the clock the whole time. It is an easy A and there are 5 papers but none exceed 800 words. The class is pretty easy but it is hard to say because she's so spontaneous with her grading that you'll never know what you have until the end of the semester.

This class was incredibly pointless and a waste of my time. We didn't learn a single thing the entire semester and she talked in circles for an hour an a half about absolutely nothing. Prompts for the papers are extremely unclear and she does not clarify anything, but she grades them REALLY harshly. Don't take her class if you don't have to.

Comment:
Grading is very unclear and no one I've talked to go an A on a paper other then one person. Asked what the paper was going to be one as was very vague. Comments are not helpful so write her way and you'll pass. Blackboards a nightmare with 56 topics by the end of the semester. She likes it if you talk in class.

This is the most pointless class of my life. She talks about absolutely nothing but she grades your papers like shes taught you everything you need to know. I'm a pretty good writer and haven't gotten above a B on papers. A bunch of pointless time consuming online work. She's old and can't hear a thing. Waste of my time. Very nice lady though

memoir-hybrid course that wasn't. only one class spent at home, w/ lots of in class AND at home work. Springs assignments at last minute too many weekly emails and online assignments. to much focus on reviews and junk instead of the memoir worth 60%. If you dont participate attend class or grade will be lowered. Annoying Prof. nice topic

Good luck this professor is absolutely ridiculous. If you are looking for an easy gened because geneds are useless toward your major DONT take this class. The final? have asked her about 500 times what to expect and she has said nothing of relevance to the subject. more online work than any hybrid class ever taken and 500 emails a week. have fun

She's old and cant hear very well, but nice enough. The class itself is kind of annoying, but the workload isnt that bad. Classes are mainly just a discussion of poems, but there is a blackboard component that is homework for every class. If you don't been up on bb you're screwed. A few paper and a final, kind of hard. The class isnt that bad though

get out of this class now unless you are an english major! she favors english majors and makes the class impossible for anyone else. she does not recognize your responses because they are not "good enough" or up to her standards of the rest of the class. awful teacher, she doesn't help you.

Extremely boring class. She is not clear at all what she expects from you. Throughout the whole semester only one thing was given back graded. Never knew where my grade stood, even when I asked her. Doesn't reply well to e-mails or questions. Play's favorites. If you are NOT an English major, do not take her course.

She's very jovial and interesting. Textbook is definitely required, she assigns readings from it every class. Participation is a must (though she play favorites, especially towards English majors) but she creates an online discussion 4 students who might be shy 2 speak in class. Do the online work, turn in 2 papers & you're good. Final is 15%.

most annoying class ever. doesnt matter how good your essay is. you'll never get an A. have to go to class but all you do is edit essay. literally. thats it. the entire time. SO BORING AND POINTLESS. learned a lot from the essays though, they were pretty fun to write. nice lady though, just very strict with what she wants you to write

She is pretty strict about being there, and she wants everyone to talk in class. The work is NOT hard, unless your just lazy. She does tend to play a little bit of favorites though. Make sure you do all the journal entry's and talk in class. On the papers wont get you an A the first draft, but she lets you redo them. VERY hard to get an A in her class unless you realyl work hard

Plays favorites. If you havent had her before or arent an english major, she doesnt care what you have to say. No clue where I stand in the class; 2 papers, participation points, & a final you dont review for Discussions are redundant and boring, never told outright that youre wrong. Dont even think she listens to what is said. nice lady though.

Definitely one of the best classes that I have taken during my three years at Towson. Scharper really knows her stuff and her lectures are usually pretty interesting. I can tell that she is a book critic rather than just the typical ivory tower English professor.
