By far the greatest professor I had in all of my undergraduate work, and in life as well. If you want to learn and actually enjoy the process, take as many courses with this professor. If you can not take a course with Don-John, absolutely stop into his office to meet him. Not only a fabulous teacher, he is a real person.

I miss him, wish I could take more of his classes. So brilliant, Towson SO screwed up by letting him go. KS is so lucky to have him, maybe I can transfer totally worth moving across the country for.

Fabulous! He knows his stuff and is the most entertaining lecturer I've ever had. How many professors let you call them by their first names? Likes to share his opinions on politics & religion a little too freely, but take him with a grain of salt, work hard, show up and you will learn so much! Kent State is lucky to get him!

I've had Don John for three classes now, and before all that when I came to rate my professor, people made me really afriad to take his class. But he's really the best professor this university has seen. Tests are hard, sure, but the class is so worthwhile. At least it was - we'll miss you!

Valuable class. Lots of research in beginning, then working on paper, but perfectly constructed. Extremely helpful while picking topic (which is great) and helped all through the process; just have to use him. Class is a good deal of work but worth every minute. Simply a great teacher.

One of my favorite teachers of all time. The class was Shakespeare, but I really learned how to write in DJ's class. I loved his incorporation of modern movies (screenplays) to teach his students the depth and history of crative writing.

Class is given a bad rap. 361 is a lot of work, but not impossibly hard. Take it with Dugas and get your work done on time and you'll be fine. He lets you pick your own topic, which is a plus, and he makes the class fun. Doesn't take attendance, but GO TO CLASS. You'll miss out if you don't.

This is the best teacher I've ever had. If you get a chance to take him, DO IT! He knows everything about Shakespeare, and makes the class exciting. Make sure you do your work. It is not an easy class, but it is definitely a must if you like Shakespeare!

Very hard class in the begginning ( a lot of work.) is unwilling to bend the rules. But, you learn a lot and he know his stuff. Is very helpful and makes himself available. If you work and take other classes it's hard to meet deadlines. Can be a ****

Knowledgable, entertaining, funny, energetic. Tests can be difficult. Too many plays to be covered, felt rushed at times, which was a detriment; scene performances were a blast.

Took it as a night class, but he kept it fun (the criticism part, at least). Always let us out about 1/3 hour early. Would definitely recommend you take him for 361 b/c he lets you pick the topic of your term paper, unlike Hahn.

Too many plays on the syllabus and not enough time. End result is that he has to rush through the plays. He's a good professor, though. Demanding but fair. One 10 page term paper, midterm, final, and scene performance.
