He is very hard to understand. Does not grade everything in the assignments and the tests are very heavy. I usually fall asleep in his class because it is very boring and tiring. Oh, and most of all, he make simple things so hard. He takes a very simple exercise and explains it in a very hard way.

Terrible class, doesn't teach anything in class and takes off marks in assignments for pointless mistakes that have nothing to do with the answer. Super easy exams, you could never go to class and easily pass. Waste of money and time. Expects you do to assignment every single week that take hours and only marks 5 questions out of like 20.

For MATH150/CMPT150. Prof Ariel does an awful job at teaching this course. It is difficult to understand him, he goes through the material very fast, does not explain concepts well and expects you to understand. The one benefit is that he will give you the answers to the assignments during the tutorial block. If you take this course, GO TO TUTORIAL

The workload was enormous for the freshmen and he was hard to understand. In general, his quizzes and tests are hard but he does not mark harshly (partially because he knows that the class is hard). Other than that, he knows what he is talking about the subject.

He is a super unhelpful prof, with vast amounts of work that doubles and triples my other classes. His tests are hard; he is not clear, and when approached about the heavy workload blamed the students on doing it wrong. Would not recommend to any person who wants to be sane at the end of the semester.

Very rude to students, explains almost nothing, if you ask for help he is condescending. Incredibly heavy workload. Would not recommend

Comment:
The worst course I have ever taken. The homework load is over 8 hours a week (double the department policy for homework), he refuses to listen to students concerns, and is VERY unapproachable. The only good thing about him is that he teaches word for word from the textbook so you can do very well skipping class and studying on your own time.

Exams are insane, but if you stick with him and work hard you'll do very well, very helpful, not always totally clear, but overall a good prof. Be prepared to learn some on your own

Comment:
Approachable but he can't teach. Totally incapable of a helpful explanation. Classes consist only of examples on the board, which are simpler, and don't contain all the skills req'd for the hw. Examples are also all over the place and sometimes hard to follow, and he gives very difficult tests. In future, I will avoid him at all costs!!!

Very fun and likable prof. He is hard to understand in lectures for sure, but he is super approachable, and will give you help outside of class if you just visit him in his office. Very gracious with deadlines as well. Does give hard tests, though - so study hard!

While he is exceptionally intelligent and well-published, he unfortunately does not have much knowledge in teaching. He assumes that his students know much more than they have been taught before, and does not convey ideas clearly. You will only see his back as he writes on the board all class without stopping to explain.

Do not take a class with him if you can avaid it. Lectures are so confusing. I learned everyting in that class on my own with the book. He is willing to give extra help but just like lectures clarity is not so good. Hard tests.

I took AI with Ariel a couple of years ago. Yes, he can be confusing, and has a hard time making himself understood. But he more than makes up for it with his approachability (if you're shy, don't blame it on him, becaue he IS approachable). He sat down with me many times and went over problems until I understood each step. Great prof. :)

Sometimes difficult to understand at times but he is a great prof who is genuinely interested in his students. Don't be shy to ask for extra help if you need it as he really does want to see you succeed in his courses. Tip: He likes text questions copied above your answers but will consider typing and emailing them to the class if asked nicely =)

Very hard because he didn't organize the class time appropriately, we spent like three weeks on super easy stuff, and then had soooo much to learn in the last week before the final that there was definitely not enough time for.
