he's a great professor. his tests are tough but the project is pretty easy. just do a lot of research and get his feedback. go to every class because he always gives out handouts and he even gave us a take-home final.

I absolutely hated this course and professor. He's not willing to help you understand concepts even after you take his advice. I would have rather not taken him at all.

Excellent professor. He is difficult and expects you to study on your own. He does not hand hold his students through the semester. If you want to actually learn, he is a great professor to learn from.

If you do not have the drive, or the time do not even think about taking this course. This was by far the most TEDIOUS, yet most FULFILLING course I have ever taken in college. Wonderful, and successful teacher, and once you complete this course, you will have complete control on your own financial snapshot once you enter the workforce.

Very challenging course but tremendously helpful in real life setting. Went in for an interview and the manager also took the same class. She knew how valuable the class was and lead to a great conversation. Best class I've taken at csuf. Project 40% of grade and 2 30 % exams. Definitely recommend!

This professor teaches you a lot about real financial planning. This class requires a lot of commitment and dedication on your part for a big project you have to complete throughout the semester on your own. If you come to class and read the book and put time and effort into the project you can do well and learn a lot.

Prof. Crane could be a great teacher but became a "State Employee" long ago. In general doesn't engage in conversation with students when they show an interest in the subject; he'll suggest you use the library or lend you a book. He doesn't us office hours are not really for students to seek help. He could have been a good teacher.

I wanted to take this class and after asking what kind of teaching assistance will be extended to the paying student, the reply was we are on our own. Crane has forgotten how to be of service to the student. Teach us and we will grow from there. who need you if we have to do it on our own. My tuition was a waste of money on this class!

Although he is a smart guy, Crane makes learning CFP almost impossible. The tests are easy but be prepared to spend at least 3 hours a day from day 1 to the end of the semester working on a project with no outline. Reading is key. The worst part is that he will not answer any questions as he finds "students will learn better on their own".

Dr. Crane is seriously one of the best teachers I have ever had at CSUF. I had him for 340, 411, and 410. If you have a passion for finance and live it and have it in your blood. If not, don't waste your time because his classes require a lot to time and commitment. The amt of knowledge this man holds is tremendous and is a REAL learning experience

this professor is hard!!!! only take his class if you have hours to spend on the workload. he says a decent project takes about 200 man hours. thats about how much work we put into it. the tests are really hard. half the class didnt pass.

Like others have said this class is hard! You have to spend a lot of time or you prob won't do well. Lectures are important but so is reading the textbooks. Had a few probs w/ the group project but felt our presentation was solid. There are 9 "mini-projects" which are required + HWs. Ended up with a B & wouldn't mind taking a class with him again.

Professor Crane is not an easy teacher. But if you have a passion for finance, want to learn, and are willing to put in lots of hard work, there is no better teacher to take. I took every class he offered and learned more in 1 year from Prof. Crane than all my other previous classes. Go to class, do the h/w, study and you'll be fine.

My goodness..I just finished taking his 411 class in the summer. It was by far the most grueling experience I've had at CSUF. Two rather large projects/presentations with two exams that are comprised of about 130+ multiple choice questions. This guy is an awesome teacher, but his class comes with heavy workload. I had him for Fin 340 as well.

I had him in 1980, so maybe some will think my comments are irrelevant today. I thought he was a great teacher, and I wish I had him for more than one class. I did work hard, but most classes that are "easy," you don't learn much.

Easy class if you want it to be. He gives you tons of extra credit opportunities. Does not have ppt or give test reviews, but the tests are multiple choice and easy if you read the book. A wonderful class, best one I have taken at CSUF. I highly recommend taking this class with Crane.

Make sure you sit next to people you like on the first day of class. Within the first 10 minutes he tells everyone to split into groups to write a huge report and presentation worth 20% of your grade. Has a lot of homework and small writing assignments. Lectures discuss nothing on the exams. Read everything in the book. Hard class. Avoid.
