Stephenson is the sweetest soul that ever lived, and I would not want to tarnish his reputation, but his tests are ridiculous. DO THE READINGS. Then read them again. And again. The guy picks the most obscure stuff for his exams. Got a B- in the class because of the final exam and watched everyone else cheat.

This class made me want to never take another gov class ever again. It was dry, and I almost fell asleep every class. Some of his lectures were not even on topic! There were very few grades in the class, but lots of readings. If you don't do them, you won't pass because he asks VERY specific questions on exams. DO NOT take his class.

Stephenson is a king hearted professor. He cares about your well being and is very down to earth. However, he kicks it old school. So if you could sit at your desk without saying anything and have him lecture at you for a good hr and a half without falling asleep, take him. Otherwise, he is a tough grader and lectures without slides...

A great man. F&M is lucky to have him. He is a preeminent scholar on the court system (two of his publications are use in class and around the country). Great lecturer who tells funnyheart-warming anecdotes. Grading is fair on tests and merciful on papers which are used to boost grades a little. Take him while you can.

Professor Stephenson is very knowledgable and has some great stories. Most of the test questions are based off of readings not lectures (even though lectures are mandatory) so you can not get by with better than a C without reading. He is very helpful though and always willing to meet outside of class

He is very helpful and has first hand knowledge of the supreme court and has great stories about meeting Justices and Politicians in his youth and at parties, etc. Great insight, he will leave a big whole in the GOV department when he leaves.

Prof. Stephenson is the man. There was very little graded work in this class (one 5 page paper, midterm exam and final) so it is really important to make sure you study for his exams. The workload is very manageable if you do it when it's assigned. He is very knowledgeable and helpful and is a great prof. to have!

He is an amazing teacher. His tests, there is only a midterm and a final, are easy and he gives you examples of past ones to hlep you study. He is very interesting and easy to follow. You will do well in his class because he has the ability to capture peoples interes in the topic.
