I took this class for a gen ed credit and it was pretty boring. I went to class though most people dont and I usually did work for other classes. He moves through the material rather slowly and I took notes here and there of important things which came in handy for the paper. Make sure you study the image sets and read the book before exams.

Professor Haggis is incredibly smart, but he will go on a lot of tangents both in class and during office hours. I haven't really read the textbooks, but sends out slides before the midterm. The lecture isn't super organized, but I found that I understood more from just listening. Go to class and you'll know the information!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS NOR THIS PROFESSOR. The class consisted of 2 exams and 1 paper weighted evenly, so you only know 33% of your grade (one exam) up until final grades are posted. He was very intelligent and lectures were interesting, but none of that matters when you don't ever get to see how 67% of your final grade was assigned.

Class was 1 midterm, 1 paper, and 1 final. He gives the image set out in plenty of time before the exams, and as long as you study you'll be fine. I found it helpful to go to class to help with context for the artifacts, but a lot of people didn't. Professor Haggis is hilarious and I really enjoyed his class and teaching style.

If you like structure and organization, then I wouldnt recommend this class! However, I honestly enjoyed it and Dr. Haggis is such a nice person. As long as you study a few days before the exams, you should be fine!

Not the most interesting course but also not the hardest. Sometimes steers off topic with stories but always connects it to the lesson somehow.

This class was actually horrible. Haggis never has clear points or lectures, so there is no reason to really go to class (promise you will fall asleep). Also, there are only 2 tests and a paper which is a very very stressful experience (especially when you don't know what is happening in the class). 0/10 recommend. That's all you need to know. Run.

Donald is a very cool guy and really knows his stuff. However, his fault is that he knows too much and is unable to relate to students who don't know as much about archeology as he does. Ancient Cities had 3 grades, a midterm, paper, and final weighted equally. Lectures were 1 hour 15 minutes of him rambling about his knowledge. NOT EASY A!!

Comment:
Do not take this class! The class is so loosely structured. Three grades: two tests and a 10-page paper. It consists of him talking the entire time, going off topic frequently (either to laugh at his own jokes or to go on a rant), with no slides and only pictures. The lectures are extremely boring and half the class shows up.

Professor Haggis is my favorite prof so far. Tests were so easy, he gave us the slides a week before so you knew exactly what was on the test. Going to class is a must, I got all my material for exams from lectures. Goes on tangents but I found they helped me understand stuff better. Never opened a textbook until final paper. Only 2 exams and paper

If you pay attention in class you will be golden. I have not even bought the required textbooks for this class and I have an A. Haggis is also super cool and he has a lot of interesting stories. I definitely do not regret taking this class.

Professor Haggis tends to give very confusing, long, and rambling lectures. However, if you come to class and actively attempt to take good notes, you can do really well (A) in his class. The problem is that 90% of people think that this class is a joke. If you don't pay attention and don't do the readings before exams, you'll get low grades.

Oh wow where do I start. First off, I will say, he is a nice guy and I'm sure he means well. But man, it was honestly the most boring class I have ever taken in my life. Class never had anything to do with anything. The final might has well been in a foreign language as half of the stuff was so foreign to me even though I never missed a class.

I honestly went to the class the first week and a half, for the midterm, and for the final. It's absolutely unbearable, don't bother going. And everyone else found it easy, but I disagree. His tests are annoyingly over tricky. I read the entire course pack and still bombed the final. Avoid this class like the plague.

I barely went to class before the midterm and got a 90, didn't go at all except to turn in my paper and got a good grade on the paper and final and got an A in the class. Really easy class, and you don't ever have to go

Prof. Haggis does nothing but ramble and laugh at random things he says. Don't bother going to class. For the midterm I studied just the course pack and made a decent grade. Stopped paying attention after that and passed with a B+ by studying the course pack and group study guide (he doesn't give one).

Professor Haggis is a fun teacher and has a great sense of humor. In class, he can occasionally ramble, but he gets to the point and teaches what you need to know to do well on tests. I recommend doing your reading, except for Biers, that's pretty boring stuff. Apply yourself and you'll do well.

This class is truly the worst thing I have ever taken. He rambles in lecture and just talks about all of his projects. Course pack was helpful. Stay home and read the book and course pack.

This class made me want to die every day. His lectures had no structure- he used the same powerpoint of pictures all semester and rambled. He never once took attendance (odd for a FYS) and so didn't know our names, and the only assignments were a midterm paper and two final papers, so there was little room for mistakes. Not worth the requirements!
