Comment:
Entertaining, lucid, reasonable. This course will help you look smart -- and if you care -- will help you become smarter. Horton is very biographical, but the theory (the intellectual's contribution) is far more important for good marks. It's not nearly as "fact-based" as other history courses. Good essay skills will ensure a rewarding course.

Class was very informative. New lectures began with a review of the previous intellectual theories. There were lots of jokes. He would even use the national accent of the intellectual we were studying. I took this course because it fit into my schedule but it was one of the most enjoyable classes I've ever had the honour to take.

Can not write a lecture/speech. He goes way off topic. Does not emphasize the important aspects of his lecture. His exams are easy though but get rid of the tutorial. I did not learn from it. Having an intellectual conversation at 9pm was difficult. The TA's didn't like it either.

Very smart prof. Knows his stuff. You don't even need to go to class as long as you have your own opinions and just google what the lecture was about.

AMAZING prof! I wish more profs lectured like Dr. Horton. Light work load, but he can be a hard marker. Take good notes in class; there is no question/answer session. I wish that the quality of education Dr. Horton delivers was the norm.

Professor Horton is an encyclopedia of knowledge and a brilliant orator. Highly recommend his class to anyone. Don't interupt him and take good notes because there is really no question and answer period, no hand outs to sepak of, and no visual aids. But, his stories are remarkably clear and interesting.

Fabulous class! Horton is hilarious and really brings the subject to life, although it's interesting stuff on it's own. Somewhat reminds me of Indiana Jones - he actually wears the cape and hat. Very helpful after class and encourages that we speak with him. Retired, but teaches for the love of it.
