I thought I was going to be taking a MUSIC THEORY class, but it was nothing of the sort. He taught us NOTHING. We just sight read every single class (no exaggeration). I had to cram study at the end for our final because our final WAS on music theory... which he had never taught. However, it is not difficult to do well in the class, just show up...

Dr. Lang is a great teacher. Instead of making us do extreme bookwork and focus on the theoretical aspects of music theory he emphasizes the practice of music theory through sight singing. Other than that he is a breath of fresh air.

You may think that applied isn't useful, but it sure is. If you have him, you will realize that he needs music to be at least wonderful, if not perfect, which sometimes makes the class hard. It will make you a better musician, and he is always there to help. He has a big heart. The only downside is that he will stop the music to fix it often.

sit in the front. always raise your hand. if you dont always sing, but he sees that you are willing, he'll remember. he's eccentric and rather dirty for a teacher, but its not hard to pass.

I showed up to 4 classes, I sang once, and received a C-. Seems to favor well-endowed ladies, but not sure if that's true or not. He's pretty full of himself & creeps me out, but you have to survive the class to graduate. It's survivable.
