Enjoys the sound of his own voice, and is very pretentious. Is an EXTREMELY tough grader. Be prepared for C's, and (if you're lucky) B-'s on your 1 rewrite of the semester. Very tough.

This professor is one of the worst I have ever encountered- he is pretentious and condescending in his comments and suggestions to papers, totally scatterbrained in lecture- good luck getting anything out of it! He also expects you to read obscene amounts of dry, irrelevant literature as though his class is the most important on the schedule.

I had Maddox for 386 and let me tell you, it was not fun. He is well intentioned, but his class is very very difficult and the way he writes on the board, its nearly impossible to understand what he's trying to say sometimes. Maybe its just 386...but my entire class feels this way.

Can I just say that I adore Professor Maddox? He's hard, but his classes are absolutely worth it. He is always willing to help, and he is very cognizant of varying levels of French grammer in his classes (although, he really expects a lot from the upper levels). He and Prof. Sears: favorite French professors ever, bar none. Gumdrops!

However that being said, he is extremely disorganized with the delivery and has a grand assumption of prior knowledge to the topic when it is just an intro course.
