Only 3 assignments (midterm, paper, and final) none are weighed more heavily because he "doesn't have time for that". You must memorize a multitude of things about 300 paintings only for him to ask you one thing about 50 of them on the final. All free response.

You MUST attend class every time or you will NOT pass the tests. There are 3 grades-2tests and a huge final which are the hardest things I've taken/done here. I would avoid his classes simply because it will tank your GPA even if you're a good student and study hard, the material is just impossible. He allows students to rewrite their finals though

Professor Schrader was really hard for me. I struggled in his class. I attended almost all class times but still didnt do that well. He has good power points and if you study those youll do just fine, but you better be ready to study and memorize A LOT!!!!

Professor Schrader can be arrogant but is very passionate about art history. Don't ask a question in class unless it is a good one because he does get upset and can be rude if it has already been answered. Don't use your phone in class. Every Thursday he has a review of what was covered that week and it is the mid term and final, so go to class.

Professor Schrader is really passionate about art history and really knows his stuff. His lectures are fast paced and content heavy but his tests do require a lot of memorizing. Really loved his class and would love to take another class with him.

Very monotonous voice and dark classroom will put you to sleep. Your grade is only based on midterm, final, and a paper. He expects you to remember hundreds of years' worth of artwork for each test. Difficult class and professor. Avoid him if you can for a Gen Ed or intro level class

When asked to put material on canvas he said it would be too much effort and there are only 3 graded assignments. He took 30 points off of my paper because I used citations which he assumed meant I never went to a museum (which I did). Either way the course is difficult but there are better professors out there so get another professor if you can.

You will love this professor! He might be one of the most straightforward at UMW. His exams are exactly what he shows in his slides in class. Just make sure you write the names of the pictures to the best of your ability, then find the pics on google images put them on a document with all of the info, and there is your exam! Very easy! Have fun!

One of the best professors I've had! The class is a breeze if you go and take notes. He tells you exactly what will be on the midterm and final. He assigns one paper that's very easy. Overall, a nice professor who makes it really easy to do well.

Very sweet guy, but his teaching method wasn't for me. Did not write the names of structures on board, just put a slide up and talked about it. He kept saying names in different accents which was hard for me to understand. Subject was interesting, but when it came to the tests he asked for a ton of dates and focused less on stuff he emphasized on.

Go to class, take notes, pay attention and you're golden. Easiest class ever as long as you go and pay attention. Attendance is KEY. However, once you get over that hump, its smooth sailing :]

This class is so boring! The prof. just puts pictures of stuff on slides and goes through them so fast you cant get them all down. The only good thing about this class is that he goes over EVERYTHING that will be on the tests. lots of people say you dont have to go to class, but he notices that people ony come to review so he doesnt always review.

This dude is so pretentious and condescending. He will say things in foreign accents and expect for you to know how to spell them, and he will mention outside knowledge like books and then say something like "I don't know why I mentioned that; I'm sure none of YOU know what I'm talking about." The class is pure memorization.

I strongly regret taking Schrader's class. I took it as an elective, and believe me, I wish I could go back in time. Unless you are very artistic or have an eye for detail avoid taking this class. Every single damn slide looks the same. Schrader is a bore and extremely pretentious. Think twice before you sign up for this class--I wish I did.

There cant be a easier class to take if your trying to fulfill the gen ed catagory You really only have to go to class on Thurs when he tells you the important pieces for the chapter from that week. Theres only a midterm, final and 2pgpaper he will let you redo he tells u wats on the exams the class before so its nothing unexpected just memorize!

Take this class if you need it for gen ed and take it with him. He has a voice that is so flat and emotionless. He makes you want to fall asleep especially with the lights turned off for his slides. Just memorize your butt off before the midterm and final and you're straight. He drops midterm if it's bad and the paper is easy. I loved this man!

Easy but you better be ready to memorize like hell. He does drop the midterm if it's hurting your grade, and the paper is easy and can be returned in for a higher grade. You only need to attend the class right before the midterm and the final because he reviews exactly what will be on both. I went to every class and just skecthed in my pad.

This class is easy enough, but don't let the other ratings fool you. I have never tried to memorize so many titles, artists, years, and places in my life. He does drop the midterm if it's hurting your grade, and the paper is very easy. Take it, but be prepared to drill.

Easy A if you pay attn to the lectures. You don't have to read the book but I do recommend coming to every class (at least come every Thursday when he has a review quiz). Make sure to take good notes during the reviews. The ?s on the test are similar to the review..memorize! There are 2 tests & a paper (3 graded assns. It's an interesting class
