Comment:

Mr. Smillie is a nice man and is always willing to help those who need it. The problem is, everyone in his class needs it. The lectures are totally disorganized and pointless. I kept track one day and of the 50 minute class, 3 minutes of it were spent covering the chapter we had a test over the next day. the only reason I got an A was Wiley Plus.

Consider alternate sections if possible. I found this class to be extremely difficult due to the lack of explanation of the actual subject at hand. Mr. Smillie may be a good accountant, but as a teacher he is poor in both his delivery and his method of teaching the subject. Do not take this teacher.

I took this online and learned a lot in the class. Tests were a bit difficult but if you kept up with the studying it wasn't too bad and he usually graded somewhat on a curve.

Extremely hard and pointless. His tests make absoulty no sense, he does not give a study guide. Everything he says is going to be on the test isnt. Most ridiculous class on the planet. Be prepared to teach yourself. Has to be the worst teacher ive ever had. Do not take this if possible!

He is probably one of the nicest men, but he really should not teach a beginning level class. He tells lots of random of subject stories that end up wasting class time. I feel like I have no knowledge necessary for advancement in my major.

Seriously the worst teacher you could take. He spends more time talking about his opinions and rambling than he does teaching. On a test day, we spent the first 15 minutes covering the next chapter and the took the test. In the following class period we had a test over the chapter we covered for 15 minutes. A waste of your time, money and GPA!

He talks about random stories having nothing to do with accounting. If people leave early during the first test he makes the rest harder and harder until everyone stays the entire time. He doesn't work any problems in class you have to discover how to do them yourself. The only extra credit you get is by signing up for accounting club and joining.

this class is hell to sit through!! you have to teach yourself, because everything is done online. its horrible. the tests that he gives makes no sense. all the in class tests are taken from the testbank questions off the internet which makes it a bit easier. enjoy!!!

I think he's a great teacher. He does tend to ramble on but it's usually about things in the news or something to do with business. He's really nice and even though most students don't think so, he's funny too. I would recommend taking him and would take him for the rest of my accounting classes.

He's a wonderful guy, would do anything to help a student. Didn't really talk about much in class but if you have common sense and glance through the book you'll do perfectly well. He's one of the better teachers I've had.
