If you're a self learner it's a guaranteed A, tests were identical to the practice tests. Goes off on tangents during lectures and isn't always clear at first. Sometimes gets frustrated when students don't understand the material. That said tests are super fair so with some work you can do quite well.

An approachable prof - 1st impressions are deceiving. Knows his linguistic history. Has a subtle sense of humour. Fair marker, a little on the tough side. Always encourages you & is available for help. Tests & quizzes are straightforward, no unpleasant surprises. Do your homework & you'll enjoy the class. Intelligent prof, interesting discussions.
