Comment:

Best Teacher out there. If you are sensitive and can't take a joke don't take his class. His humour is rude and very dirty but is hilarious. Especially at 830am. Yes he makes you feel dumb when you ask a question but he makes you think and not just memorize material. Tests are fair as long as you study. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Course was really hard, obviously the class was struggling and Doug didn't seem to care. Tests were on material we hadn't covered or covered very briefly. Make sure you study hard and memorize all the notes. Felt his manner was inappropriate a lot of the time.

Awesome teacher. If you stick with him for more than one course, he will teach you things you can't learn from any other prof. Really knows his stuff in the lab. His third and forth year labs are the best learning experience, very independent.

Great teacher. Fairly easy tests, good at explaining stuff, keeps things interesting. He always tries to involve the class in discussions, but unfortunately this results in many awkward silences as no-one wants to risk answering his questions.

Doug seems like a hit or miss. Either students love him or they just don't. He always made me feel really stupid whenever I asked a question. Also...don't sit in the front row cause you'll smell the smoke and his lazy eye will freak you out. I ended up teaching myself the material and got an A+...woot!

One of the best instructors I had- clear lectures, awesome exams (puts everything you learn in class into context). For upper level chemistry students- definitely the guy! Have heard he isn't as interested in lower level classes.

I remember one time it was I think 10pm the night before a final, and there was Doug, in his office and willing to help some confused students. Great teacher, and is one of the main reasons I'm doing what I'm doing now.

He is typically available for helping students out...but his personal hygiene is unacceptable. I don't like going to class and smoking second hand smoke. He smells so bad of smoke that it felt like I was smoking his second hand smoke. Also, if you can't answer a question right away, he tries to embarass you.

Worst guy. Boring, not helpful. Very lazy... I had a valid argument on a test mark I was not satisfied with and he wouldn't look at it because he was too lazy to look it over and change the grades.

Doug tries to make the class fun with the help of fire demonstrations! His quizzes require studying, don't try to wing them! The final was not much like the in class tests, a little trickier. Doug tries to teach ideas from different perspectives, is helpful outside of class. I can actually say that I learned and understood a lot from his class.

He was a good teacher. Good knowledge and explanation of the material. I think that the people that are complaining about this are those that do not pay attention in class and then **** about their mark later and blame the teacher. Got a good foundation of Chemistry out of his class for later classes. Good Teacher :)
