Like another comment on here, he assumes you're fresh with STATS. You read articles and have questions to answer and he doesn't explain anything. All that we do in class can be done at home, esp. labs (Cog psyc); waste of time and travel. He's a nice guy but SO unclear and in his own world. Has trouble putting what's in his mind out to us

Doug Vipond is one of the best professors that I have had! He takes a difficult class and makes it so much easier to understand with take home prompt sheets that we reviewed during the next class day. Do your prompts and go to class. It's that easy. He's always got a quirky joke and class flies by.

Vipond is a TERRIBLE prof. He doesn't teach you anything and assumes you already have a basis for stats. In cognitive psychology he had us read articles and do exercises and never even attempted to teach us a thing. Terrible teacher, would NEVER recommend him to anyone.

Nice guy, but not the most engaging. Cracked a joke here and there, but classes were usually pretty boring, and it felt as though you never did anything. Eventually had a hard time motivating myself to go to class. Course material is easy if you do the worksheets he hands out. Not the most helpful guy, but not the worst either.

Didn't really enjoy the classes,most of the time we spent was pointless.It's not the end of the world if you have him,it's just hard to adjust to his monotone voice at first,you make the class what you want it to be.Some of my friends did horrible,but I ended up doing not so bad.You have to study really hard for his tests,but hey,it's university.

An absolutely fantastic professor! Very helpful and super nice. I usually struggle in math but I'm doing really well in his stats class. He is a great teacher, and the optional homework prompts really help with understanding the material. If you have to take statistics, definitely take it with Doug!

Good prof overall! Easy marker, gives you a sheet everyday telling you what you're going to learn in that class and what you did last class and optional practice homework for next class. Occasional dry humor and not all that funny or interesting, but a really sweet guy. Don't shy away from Doug's class in the least!

Douglas is a very sweet guy! He is so nice and has a funny sense of humour. I wasn't bored in his stats class once and he gives you exercises to work on that help a great deal with learning the material! Great prof and class!
