He does a good job explaining concepts and will clarify things if asked. He provides useful study tips because he wants his students to learn and succeed. I found this class to be very interesting, and I actually remember things I learned; however, you will have to put in effort since the tests are fairly difficult. I would recommend this class!

Constantly going over class time. Goes off into tangents for 10-15 minutes making class fall behind. Makes you feel bad for answering or not answering questions. Asks questions he knows you'll get wrong. Study the power point and you should do well on the tests. Occasionally gives quizzes without prior notice. Just go over previous slides.

Dr. Waring has been the most engaging and caring professor I've encountered at App. If you participate and keep up with your notes, the class goes smoothly. He always has interesting ways of relating material together, and I feel like I've walked away actually remembering how to apply this info, rather than just test and forget it. Definitely take!

Dr. Waring is a great professor. Pay attention in class and read some of the textbook (based on your class notes) before tests and you'll do well. He makes the information interesting in my opinion. His exams are multiple choice and essay responses, but he gives you the essay questions ahead of time so that you can prepare typed responses.

The grade is based on 4 tests. Attendance in his class is required and counts a lot toward your grade. His tests are hard and the essay questions on the tests are SERIOUSLY hard and he grades them harshly. I got a B- because I studied like mad on test days, but don't take this class if you don't want to work hard for the grade. Study hard or fail.

This teacher is super chill. One of the only teachers to help me out and let me take his class for honors. His class is lecture heavy, but if you email him, he'll respond super fast and always wants to help. Super passionate about the topic and an all around amazing teacher- class is a bit challenging, but VERY easy to get a good grade if you work.

Dr. Waring is one of my favorite professors I have had. He truly cares about his students and just wants you to learn and understand the material. Tests aren't easy, but he allows you to do rewrites for essay questions that you missed. I really enjoyed this class and honestly feel like I learned and retained a lot. He is so nice!

History and Systems is dry and sometimes complex material but he does make it interesting, and he's a nice dude. Show up (he gives an attendance grade) and study a little every day - most of the questions come from the powerpoint, the book is supplemental. The plus side is that he grades papers pretty easy.

Do not take his cognitive lab class. I had him for cognitive processes and thought it was a good class so I took his lab-big mistake. He canceled half the classes, did not follow the syllabus in the slightest, and gave unreasonable grades on our research paper of which he did not prepare us for at all. My opinion? Run quickly away from this lab.

Waring seems like an interesting guy, but his lectures can be pretty dry. History & systems tests can be tough, but you do have the essay questions before hand. He struggled to keep the class engaged, but I think that was due to the nature of the course and not his teaching

He teaches cognitive processing, but along the way (and maybe more importantly) he also teaches students how to study to get good grades. (Whether you apply it or not is up to you.) Read the textbook and fill in the parts that he leaves out of the lecture! Essay questions-given in advance. Attendance-taken sporadically after the first couple weeks.

Dr. Waring is brilliant and I've taken every class that he's offered. Every question you can come up with, he can answer. Not the best at replying to emails, but that's not a big deal. Clear lectures, has NO intention of trying to trick you on tests. Reading quizzes are tough, but he is understanding.

Dr. Waring is one of the most interesting professors I've had here at app. He is extremely knowledgeable about his field and his enthusiasm for it is nothing less than contagious. Doesn't use tests to trick you - he really wants to see what you learned in his class so he's a very fair grader

Dr. Waring is a good teacher and it's an enjoyable class. There is a lot of reading and you are graded on reading notes. The tests are hard but if you study with your reading notes and the power points they're doable. He is very knowledgable and engaging in class, and always willing to negotiate with the class on assignments and grades.

He is knowledgeable. However, his own research is largely trivial. This is not uncommon. Professors often must go this route for publication in journals of no note. However, he can still be arrogant and condescending. In short, his credentials/research cannot cash the checks his attitude writes.

This dude is awesome. Gives super clear powerpoints and puts them online. However you don't ever crack open the textbook so don't miss a a single class. I got 199 out of the 200 points in the class. Final is optional. Essay questions for every test but he gives you them in advance so memorize your answers.

A great professor. He really makes you think about what you really know about life and keeps you interested even though this course can be boring. The only negative is that sometimes his lectures can be a little dry but he usually picks up on that while he is lecturing and tries to get everyone excited again.

Seriously one of the best professors I have had at App. Evo Psych was so interesting and I loved the reading/discussion/essay format of his class. I wound up with an A at the end...I would highly recommend him!
