Comment:

Dr. M is incredible. He recognizes hard work and the people who care in a rewarding way. He is also very straightforward in how his material applies to the real world, especially bc half the class is Grad students (or mine was). He knows his class can be hard, but he makes it worth it by being hilarious, genuine, and offering valuable life lessons.

Comment:

Dr. McKinney was by far the best professor I have had in the CBA. While his exams are tough (STUDY THE VOCAB LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT), he is extremely helpful, east to talk to, and takes a genuine interest in connecting with his students. While MIS students are favored, he has a great sense of humor and teaches relevant material and vocabulary

I find it very difficult to pay attention during class and he can be very unclear. The book for the class is written by him and he doesn't let you forget it. There is a tonnnn of memorization and little learning. You have to studymemorize a lot to pass his exams.

Comment:

I've been into IT for a very long time, I have my Comptia A+, he is very critical about what you write in the written portion, basically if HIS book didn't say it or If you don't USE the exact words he wants, then its wrong, no questions asked. I have even challenged him on this, and he doesn't really even listen to you at all. The book is correct!

This class is all about memorization with McKinney. You never actually learn the material. You have a lab where you learn Excel & Access. You also have 2 classroom days where you do something irrelevant to the lab. I failed the first exam and got an A on the second. Its all about the studying.

Dr. McKinney has been one of my favorite profs here in my time at BG. He is clearly passionate about the subject. As long as you read the book and study the vocal you should easily have an A-B grade in the class. It's not tough, just requires some work. The book is essential, and excelaccess knowledge gained has been very beneficial.

I loved Earl. You have vocab quizzes over each chapter but they aren't for a grade. Try to do well on these because if you average a 90% on them before the exam you can exempt 13 of your short answer questions. Overall I liked the class! Pay attention in lab days! Need textbook to study and have to have the access code.

Bad teacher, but he has been at BG for a while apparently. Lab homework's take a long time (more than 3 credit hours worth), vocal quizzes every week, and tests. Other than for quiz days, and test days, you don't need to go to class.

Dr. McKinney is a very nice professor. He gives vocab quizes ever wednesday on the current chapter. If you get 90% average on all of the quizes you are exempt from taking a third of the tests, even the final! His tests are difficult, but if you study the chapter review, and the little questions below the chapter questions, you will do VERY WELL!

Worst teacher I've ever had. Extrememly boring; makes you teach yourself by reading the book. If you read the book, there is no need to come to class. That is a bad teacher. Wasted so much time that could have been used for lecturing on "activities," such as building paper airplanes, that are too childish for elementary school students.

Absolutely horrible teacher to take for MIS 2000. We took an exam and he had to curve everyone's score(of around 150 people) by 45% because everyone failed, I think that says enough. Really nice guy but really horrible teacher.
