He is a nice man. You must read the textbook in order to pass and pay attention. If you go to see him he will help you more. He says in class when going over chapters what will be on test. Good man but would not take again.

Mr Scahill is kind of a nice man but his class was extremely challenging. The only grades are 3 exams, attendance, and the homework if you decide to pay for the access code. His tests were incredibly challenging and the class average was never above a D. I would not take him unless you love reading textbooks and taking notes on your free time.

I absolutely love Professor Scahill!! He makes the class interesting and always ties material to things the students would know. Very knowledgable. Offers optional graded online homework (which is cake- I got 100's every time) which boosted my grade from a B+ to an A! His tests are hard but if you prepare you'll do great! Always ask him questions.

Can't believe all the bad reviews. Scahill's the MAN, he tries to make the class as interesting as possible, which is tough for economics. He has the driest yet funniest sense of humor. Whoever says the tests were hard didn't read the textbook or do homework. Copy down everything from the powerpoint and LISTEN, he tells you exactly what's on tests.

Dr. Scahill is an enigmatic man, to say the least. Yet, he is super understanding, and really helpful to those curious. He can come off intimidating, but honestly, ask and be curious. Economics can be boring on the surface, but it's a wealth of wonder with a good teacher. I honestly believe Dr. Scahill has a lot of respect for it.

Comment:
Having had Dr. Scahill for two semesters, he's a mixed bag for me. Very funny guy but his tests are VERY difficult. He'll always say "this is a 2 pointer" in class, meaning that it will be on the test. Then the test comes and its not on there. I learned much more from reading the textbook than his lectures. Be prepared to READ for this class.

You HAVE to read the textbook or else his tests are going to be super hard. And hes good with availability, always welcome you to office hours and he wants you to come. So take advantage of it. Also participate in class, ask questions and converse with him, itll make him like you more and hell be less anal about everything.

Dr. Scahill is a very respectful man and is quite helpful if you ask questions. His lectures are incredibly dry and are not ideal for learning. Tests are very difficult as well.

Prof. Scahill knows a ton about economics. What he doesn't know is how to teach the topic. If you love Econ, and have some prior knowledge, definitely, take him. I WOULD NOT suggest taking his intro class if you haven't studied econ yet. Only 3 tests all semester (incl. the final). No papers. EXTREMELY LECTURE HEAVY! Class will be very boring.

He's monotone, and lectures can be hard to pay attention to. However, he is thorough and all the material from the 3 tests (including non-cumulative midterm and final) is found provided ppts. He encourages participation and "begs" you to come to his office hours so he can help. Avg test grade between 60-70; If you study though an A is realistic

I ADORE Prof Scahill! The material was occasionally tricky, but he had great examples and explanations which made the class fun and straightforward. Homework was short and easy, you could redo it as many times as you needed for 100. You really do need to read the textbook for the tests (which are tricky), but he is always helpful and really cares

He has three test that are super hard. In the first test, the class average was a 50%, and the second test class average was 60%. Everyone failed the test except 2 people. You really have to study weeks in advance. He has such a monotone voice you will barely listen because it's soo hard to listen. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS

Professor Scahill is a great teacher and even better person. This man loves economics and really cares about his students. Will meet with you even if it isn't during his office hours, in fact he basically begs you to come meet with him if you don't understand the material. Read the textbook and go to class and its at least a B.

Comment:
Professor Scahill is not the average "old school teacher." He has that attitude, but is pretty funny in this own way. As long as you read the chapter, take notes in class and do your homework (online, and unlimited number of guesses easy A) you should be good. If you are not he is very open to meeting students outside his office hours. Take him A+

a true blue baseball fan who loves his graphs. and rightly so his graphs are phenomenal. a graph will never lie to you. graphs are like a pet dog, only better because a graph cant bite. Professor Scahill gives printouts of any graph e uses in class. these graph handouts are printed on some of the highest quality heavy weight printer paper.

The lectures are long and painful but he tries to lighten it up with his own way of explaining the material. Must read the text book chapters if you want to do well in the class. Grades are based off of online homework, attendance and 3 exams. I don't recommend him however.

I absolutely loved Scahill. The tests are not that difficult. The only reason people say the tests are hard is because they don't study. The fact that homework is worth 30% of your grade helps immensely because it is nearly impossible to get below 100. Although not great at explaining, great class experience.

Extremely hard course. He only gives two tests and a final so you must do extremely well on the tests to pass. The tests are very difficult. He is also not very helpful.
