Tests alternated between essays and short answer tests.Questions most of the time are not clear and lectures are 100% of the material.I don't advise a morning class. His lectures tend to get monotone, but he's overall a nice person and willing to help if he can.If you need his response, go to his office.Emails and calls are difficult to get back.^_^

I believe this is Dr. Thomas' first online class, and I don't think he realizes how much homework he's giving us. The workload is completely unreasonable for a 100-level course. It may be ok for students who are just on vacation and have nothing else to do, but for the rest of us, it's nearly impossible to complete all of the assignments.

Can't dislike the guy for his mono-tone voice, but I would only say that people who are PHY majors take him.

He has an extremely boring voice, but he does seem to have a very genuine love for the subject. I recommend taking him, but DO NOT take him for a morning class. You won't be able to stay awake. I'm not exactly the type to fall asleep, but it's hard not to. Tests alternate between short answer tests and papers, and the final is either or.

This class was pretty easy. As with most classes, read the assignments and you'll be fine. The tests are pretty easy and he always curves them.

Eddie Thomas is an awesome professor. His classroom manner is a little subdued, but if you really listen, he is very understandable and interesting. He's very patient and willing to work with students.

Dr. Thomas is only boring if you're too stupid to focus on anything that isn't shiny for more than thirty or forty seconds. If the meanings of words are more important to you than the pretty sounds they make, you should find him funny and interesting. The work was pretty easy, but Symbolic Logic isn't a typical philosophy class, so I don't know.

We read some Montaigne essays and had to write our own, which was kinda cool. We had to let the other students read our essays and they gave us a grade (yeah the students graded each other!), which was really weird at first, but eventually it was fun, especially since mine were good and you got to criticize the slackers and grade them down.

Thomas is not THAT boring! (But who wouldnt admit he is a little...) I made an A and it wasnt that hard. Stay awake, pay attention, and talk in class. His tests are hard, so think about what he will ask before test-time and study with a partner. A lot of reading. I liked him. He's a good guy with a good sense of humor.

Look at the upper level class reviews when deciding on a teacher. Tons of people come over to the phi dept and don't like it because the prof won't take personal care of them, Eddie is a great teacher. Talk to him out of class in his office a couple of times and then you'll have a better understanding of him and his classes

Possibly the main cause for half my brain matter rotting. So boring you can't help but fall asleep. Grades tests subjectively--even if you know your stuff, you won't get an A if you aren't a fave. Only really lets a couple of faves finish thoughts/ask questions. Never gives any credit for effort.

Dr. Thomas's honors class was interesting and helpful. He had everyone choose something that they always wanted to learn about/how to do and had us do it over 13 weeks and then write weekly journals about our experience. Fun stuff. He thinks I'm insane, I think he's wonderful!

For the first couple of classes, his monotone may scare you, but it soon becomes very clear what a good guy Thomas is. He was extremely helpful both in class and out. He has a pretty sharp sense of humor, but not everyone can pick up on it. Made a crappy, required class pleasant.

not the most popular professor on campus-but definitely a good one: he's smart as hell, and offers much reward to students who care enough to do the required reading and make attempts to think critically about it - students are too lazy to appreciate him

This class was on Hegel, one of the hardest philosophers I have come across. Dr Thomas tried to break the work down so that we could understand it. He is a brilliant man and class discussions are always interesting. Is very open to differing opinions!

How many wyas can you sy boring? He is by far the most boring professor that I have ever encountered. No papers, but we test on his rambling, and that really sucks...cause he never makes a point.
