Dr. St. Pierre is a very personable and witty professor! I enjoyed going to class because he teaches through lecture and discussion, and does not rely on slideshows. He is very clear about his expectations; the tests and exam have no surprises! If you go to class and take notes you will succeed in this course.

Comment:

This teacher is clearly just here to make money with as little effort as possible. Refuses to go over test results with you as he reuses his tests, which makes it very difficult to learn. barely communicates with students. Test are on insignificant details and not very helpful if you are there to learn. Study every word, literally.

He was not present at all for his online class. He simply posted the reading list and on the appropriate dates the quizzes opened. He tests rote memorization and his averages are low. Be prepared to read and reread.

Had this prof on campus (Aging Classes) and online. Way better on campus! Friendly and does good lectures. The online courses are typical of online courses - reading and exams but not bad if you do the readings.

Comment:

Some test questions on irrelevant minor details unlikely to be remembered despite reading the book twice. Wasted time making post-it notes instead of understanding the material. Had to learn less in order to be successful in this course. We were also unable to see our mistakes from tests -another impediment to learning. Patronizing email responses.

Would not reccomend. Course is not interesting as he does not seem passionate about the subject. We just read PDF article so he posts and then we are tested on them. Felt I have wasted a credit with this course and will not have him again as a professor. does not like you emailing him and he lets you know that. Does not make any of his own notes.

Although his tests are pretty tough, and there is quite a bit of reading (which is to be expected with an online course) he is an extremely fair marker. Dr. St-Pierre takes time after everyone has completed their exam to go through and take out any questions he deems as unfair or too difficult.

Comment:

St. Pierre seems pretty awesome. Really interesting material, and his notes are clear and concise. The marks were based purely on 3 exams, each worth 1/3 of your grade, all online and open-book. He uses many recognition-based questions, so post-it notes are a godsend. I've taken 2 classes with him and am taking a 3rd. Highly recommended!

Sexy! Good course. writes exams based on questions given in class. no textbook, just articles. discussion type class. Very fair, marking was a little sketchy but fair. I recommend taking this one.
