Doc is a fantastic professor. He gives a sizable amount of homework, but if you stay on top of the deadlines, it's okay. Don't lose the syllabus. He's very open to course suggestions and available to talk with students 1-on-1. He gives great feedback--I lived for his little notes written on my poems. Great at generating class discussion.
