This class is an dvanced course in philosophy, taught by a leader in the field. Eli's lectures require rigorous engagement with the text outside of class, as he clearly tells you at the beginning of the course. His deadlines are strict, but fair, because he gives abundant notice.

Professor Hirsch is alright. He is clearly passionate about the subject and he is a pretty good professor but he rambles a lot and he's kinda grumpy. Very tough grader.

Comment:
Professor Hirsch was amazing to have for philosophy. He really will foster a love of the subject in his students. Engaging lectures that make you interested. I found myself a little daunted by the class, having never taken a course for credit before. But I feel I was almost spoiled by his class, and have not had a professor on the same level since.

Eli and his TA teach this course like nobody else does. Eli happens to be hilarious, and incredibly intelligent. He's also a shining inspiration of philosophy in general. He's a real person, a great philosopher, and a regular person--who happens to be a genius. Take his logic course or biomedical ethics at Harvard.

This biomedical ethics course at Harvard is one of the best courses I've ever taken. Dr. Hirsch analyses situationspapersideas from multiple angles and he really knows his stuff. His blunt-yet-refreshing personality also make his classes a fun and often hilarious way to spend your afternoon. Would take any class taught by him in a heartbeat.

Ive had Hirsch for several classes at Brandeis. If you want to see him at his best, take a small class, discussion based class with him. He is profoundly intelligent and looks at philosophical issues in a very creative (but intuitive) way. He doesn't seem as disconnected from reality as other philosophers. Also he can be extremely funny.

introduction to logic is the best class of all time at harvard. serious up people. definitely recommend. awesomeness does not capture the awesomeness of the class. formal logic made understandable is a better way to describe it. i LOVED this course. professor and ta, both genius--professor is funnier tho. serius up.

i loved this course. absolutely great. if you can take it, take it. that's all i've got to say about that. as for eli: brilliant, funny, and very approachable. ta is pretty bad ars at logic, too. i think he's like one of those strange math genius like people. but the ta is not as funny as eli. so, that's that.

This class is summed up by one word: work. You just have to work, outside of class, et cetera, and. On your own. The homework will never be collected, and lectures are funny, so I tended to slack off. I had to earn my A in this course, just be willing to put in the time. Also, go to section. These are so helpful that it's not even funny.

Comment:
This course was not a complete joke, as some people would point out. But, for me, it was not super difficult either. I went to every section, and whatever else the TA offered, and I went to every lecture just to be safe, too. I also did the homeworks, but they are not collected. That's a lot of work, but it was not super difficult once I got it.
