Quizes every day. You need to read, carefully, and study it briefly before the quiz. If you do, you'll make an A. On papers, do MLA correctly, she knows her stuff and will know if you make stuff up. Fair grader, intersting. I'd reccommend her but be prepared to do a lot of reading.

There is no denying that Dr. Sparks was hard. But she really knows her stuff, and she's fun as she keeps it interesting. You will do A LOT of reading, there's usually a quiz everyday, she assigned 4-5 papers. She must be a generous grader, because I thought I had a B, but I received an A. I would recommend her.

I was extremely interested in Feminism but this class was a little hard to go to. Papers are handed back about a month later. She does offer several opportunities for extra credit. A lot of reading is assigned and there is usually a quiz each day. The final paper and exam are the hardest part. The final paper must be at least 8 pages.

This class was lots of fun and very thought provoking.It was her first semester teaching a film class so she didn't have all of the finer points down yet, but overall a very effective and FAIR teacher.Didn't always return grades promptly but they were up on blackboard eventually so there usually wasnt a question on how you were doing in the class.

Dr Sparks is hilarious! The readings are very time consuming and she does do a fair amount of man-bashing but if you don't get your panties in a bunch over an insult about conservatives and Bush, you will find the class amusing.The material is very interesting, but its a lot of work, so I wouldn't take her if you're not interested in Women's issues

Good God, feminism isn't the same as man-bashing. Judging the last comment, I can see why it took you four hours to do the nightly reading. What you meant to say was, if you're a dumbass, don't take this class. Dr. Sparks is smart, witty, open to student's ideas, and a great teacher. Her class is worthwhile if your interests expand beyond your GPA.

Took in Fall 05 - VERY unorginized. Takes forever to get grades back. Lots of swearing & men bashing - which was the best part of class. Quizzes almost every day on 4 hours of reading that was assigned the previous class. Does not teach, class is one big discussion. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER, especially if you need to keep you GPA up or improve it!
