Kelly was absolutely the worst professor I've ever had in my entire life. Not flexible with grades and exams barely cover class material. DO NOT TAKE WITH KELLY.

Kelly races through the lectures, sometimes too fast to copy down the notes, and doesn't cover all of the expected material during lecture. The class is graded by 2 midterms, (25%), the final (40%), and homework. The averages on the exams are very low. Bottom line, Kelly is ok, but if given the option, definitely try to get a different prof.

Professor Kelly is a good professor but I think a lot of people don't understand her lectures are only beneficial if you read the chapter (most people don't read). I read all the chapters, went to her office hours, went to lectures and did practice problems occasionally. This class with Kelly makes you a better thinker.

Not sure what went wrong. I did practice problems, went in for help, & studied 40+ hours for the final, still got a 58. I found that other professors had actual review packets & weekly quizzes which would've helped see if you're learning and also cushion your grade. She's a nice lady , but she's not a good professor. Her examples are not relevant.

Would have dropped this course if it wasnt required for my undergrad. If you need thorough examples and reasoning behind econ concepts, try to get a different econ 101 professor.

I really would have preferred to have a different professor, something with me did just not click with Professor kelly. If you are not responsibly doing her practice problems every night of the week like she recommends, or are already taking a heavy math class, maybe skip this one till later. I wish she would have had weekly discussion quizzes

If you're not strong in math it may be more difficult. Prof. Kelly is a good person and does provide examples/goes over the material in order, but she goes off on a lot of tangents that take up example time so she will rush through the numeric examples. Also the midterms are hard and worth a lot. There's no way to raise your grade if you bomb one.

If you don't have a strong math background, I would not recommend taking econ with Professor Kelly. The exams can be really tough and there is no homework to balance out your grade. Also, she doesn't post her notes online so you have to go to lecture to learn anything.

Great economics professor. I took intro to micro and macro with her. If you want to major in economics or business I would suggest taking her class.

She's a decent professor. her examples are sometimes redundant, which results in not being able to cover all the material. What really irked me was that HW was often on topics we didn't cover in class until after the HW was due. Otherwise, she has a great sense of humor and lectures are pretty good. Do the HW and do really well on the easy first MT

Not even coming from the perspective of someone who failed the class (finished with an AB), Professor Kelly is legitimately the worst professor I've ever had. Your entire grade is based on 3 completely unfair, extremely difficult exams, and 5 2-point homework assignments she says are "extra credit". Do not take econ101 with kelly for any reason.

While I don't necessarily agree with her teaching style, Professor Kelly is a person who truly cares about her students. When I was sick and was falling behind in her class, she helped me come up with alternatives so that I wouldn't tank my grade in her class. She will go out of her way to help you if she thinks you are a hard worker and care.

Kelly isn't awful, but she is definitely the least preferred Econ teacher. Very math based and lecture heavy, do not skip class. Tests are pretty hard as well. Lectures are informational but the examples are basic compared to what you are expected to do on a test. Also gets off track easily.

Professor Kelly is a great teacher of economics and she has her ways of making content interesting. That being said the class is paced very fast and you must be willing to put in the time to get that A.

Professor Kelly is a really great person and she definitely tries to make class interesting. However, she moves VERY fast in lecture, and the exams can be tough if you're not well prepared. My advice is to do practice problems often and go to office hours if you have questions-she's really good at explaining.

Professor Kelly's lectures can make sense at times, but they are overall extremely confusing. Perhaps what makes this class the worst though is the fact that your grade is determined not by your understanding of economics, but your ability to grasp math. By far the worst class and professor I've had in my time at UW so far.

Jeez. This is as much an Algebra class as it is an Econ class. Lectures are straightforward and make sense, but tests take the material to a whole new level. On these two midterms and final, she dishes out ugly numbers and bizarre scenarios. You can understand the economics and still fail every exam. This class requires daily practice.

Personally, I enjoyed Professor Kelly and would take another class with her. I think her teaching style is understandable and concrete. I do think it is important to have the right TA, but all of them are accessible yours doesn't work for you. I think you need to have an acquired taste to like Kelly, and I guess I was one of them that liked her.

Absolutely awful professor. Main message: you will fail this course if you skip Kelly's lectures; however, you will be lucky to get a BC if you do go to her lectures. She flies threw relevant material and spends hours on irrelevant material. When she does actually teach, she doesn't teach economics, she teaches math. Stay far away!
