Comment:

Dr. Sanford taught both sections my semester, and there was a lot of worry from other students that they wouldn't do as well. Turned out to be a non-issue, Dr. Sanford is a great teacher, something like a middle ground between Johnson and Gillmore. She's super funny and likes to make jokes during lecture. The class is hard, but she teaches well.

Comment:

Dr. Sanford is one of the best profs I've ever had. She is clear and engaging in lecture, and she is willing to help anytime. I never feel embarrassed asking a question, but she did push me to do my best. Orgo is one of the hardest classes, but she makes it more doable and helped me do well. She uses the chalkboard for most lectures, so take notes!

Comment:

Dr. Sanford is an amazing lab prof. I knew absolutely nothing about organic chemistry, but she directed her lab with such efficiency that I was always able to keep up. Her lab quizzes are fair and have predictable questions (calculations, reactions, chemical structures, and basic concepts of new analyses), and she makes report expectations clear.

Comment:

She is a very knowledgeable and organized lady. Definitely a tough grader, but I thought her tests were very fair. Extremely kind & helpful, both in and out of the classroom. She's pretty underrated.

Her quizzes and tests were fair, not too many surprises. Her lectures were easy to understand, but she will tell you straight up that much of your success depends on what you put into it. She lets you know that its not going to be a walk in the park. Easier than Gilmore!!

Comment:

She is a very good teacher, but not the easiest. However, orgo is not easy. She will tell you how it is, just get use to it. If you set up a time or send her an email about a question she will answer them. If you set up a time she will try to get you in within the next 2 days Also, will stay and help most nights. She does have a family.

She is an awful professor. She does not care in the slightest about her students or if they're struggling and trying to do well. This class was impossible, and she thought D averages on quizzes and exams was sufficient. Do not take a class with her, you will regret it and your life will be that much more stressful. Organic lab is difficult regardless of which prof you have. If you are willing to go in and get help, you will do very well on every lab. Dr. Sanford is willing to explain confusing parts of labs and edit write-ups. She is also very nice.
