Comment:
My confidence in my writing has definitely decreased because of this class. If you do not have her interpretation of a poem it is most likely wrong unless you can really back yourself up. Her feedback is quite rude instead of being helpful for future papers. The homework assignments take a long time and points will be taken off for missing class.

Comment:
Dr. Friedman does not respect interpretations that aren't her own. She often belittles students and sometimes comes off as aggressive. While participation is key to getting an A, only contribute if you have irrefutable evidence to prove your assertions. The homework takes way longer than homework should. 35% of your final grade is free full credit.

Fridman rarely responds to emails. She is an extremely tough grader and often belittles you in her comments. When you talk to her about a thesis you have written or about a poem theory, she will argue with you and push her side, not accepting yours as correct. Also, the "midterm" for the class was 2 weeks from the final. Would not recommend at all.

Comment:
The class was relatively easy, with weekly homework assignments and four 1500 word essays due throughout the semester. If you miss 1 class, 11 points are docked from your attendance score. Prof. Friedman wasn't terrible, but she definitely was't my favorite. She occasionally came off as belittling and she took a long time to respond to e-mails.

Comment:
If your view of the poem is not the same as hers, you are automatically wrong. She is extremely insulting when analyzing essays. She is subjective to her own interpretations and opinion of the student when grading essays.
