Comment:

Eric is a very nice man. That being said, I'm pretty sure he is senile. He forgets things constantly, and spent at least 30 mins of almost every single class telling us exactly the same story about Jackson Pollock. His grading criteria is murky and his grading extremely inconsistent, if he even remembers to grade. Avoid him if possible!

Way too overhyped in my honest opinion (search up his crappy art on the internet). His old age is interfering with his ability to properly teach a class and grade projects in a decent time frame. Time to get rid of him and the 10-year benefit he gets from it.

Eric is awesome! I love Eric! He is really nice. We mostly just talk about traveling. He also is a good prof and knows what hes talking about. He has bad memory and sometimes rambles on and on, which sometimes is boring. Good guy. Tough grader

It's true that he prefers a certain style over another. He'll give you a really bad mark if your pencil drawings are light and made out of several lines. He's hard marker but if you talk to him again about your grade, he'll probably bump it up. Also, I think his assignments are way too basic and you have to get every detail to get a passing grade.

Comment:

Eric is a nice guy. With most profs, they prefer a certain a style over another. For Eric, Perspective and Dark pencil drawings is key to a good grade. While I got to improve quite a bit, I felt there was too much work you have to do in such little time. I would only recommend this class if you're always on top of things, and love drawing.

A kind and soft spoken prof. Marking-wise, he prefers a certain style over the other; if you get that, it will go fine. I consider there to be quite a lot of projects, I personally wish he'd give a week off to finish one or another, as some projects take longer than others. Certain days, make sure to be there to draw a certain assignment.

Incredibly kind man, soft spoken - so bring your listening ears. As the others have said, bring your technical skills or be prepared to sharpen them. He gives a lot of freedom, however, in choosing projects; so your projects can be expressive, so long as practices are technical. If you get the chance, take a class with him.

Most of the class is independent learning, and you don't need to attend to complete the projects, as long as you hand them in on the due date. Eric's very kind and is willing to help, but if you're a student that loves lectures, he's not the kind to give them. Classes are mostly work periods and if you like technical approaches to art, take this.

Sweet man and very helpful. He is always available for help or to discuss a mark if need be. He prefers student works to be clean and tidy, but he does enjoy odd compositions if the picture is still appealing.

Eric is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He greatly values technical skill and is very interested in perspective. He is a hard marker and is brutally honest but is more than willing to help you learn perspective and shading.

He is a kind and sincere instructor, and one of the few art professors who will actually teach you TECHNIQUE and skills which you can adapt so you can express yourself later. It takes alot to get an A in this class, reacon with about 8 hours per project, with a project due every week. charming and professor makes it worth while though.

He is the saving grace of the UofC's fine arts department. Without him there would be no profs that value a strong knowledge of technique and skill. This man is the only reason I haven't switched to ACAD. Very clear course outline (a failing of ALL other studio profs).
