I'm shock there are so many bad reviews. I absolutely loved Mack and thought he was extremely helpful. He has a very interesting perspective and make the material approachable. He's definitely not easy, but I never felt like I was killing myself to do well

He is a very stubborn teacher. He is a very smart man and he knows his stuff but he is very bad at teaching the information and making it simple enough for his students to understand. His class is very fast paced so it is even harder to conceptualize the information. I would never suggest this teacher. Average of entire class is a C

STEER CLEAR. Had food poisoning day of final and bombed it (went into it with a B/B-). He gave me a D in the class and was unresponsive to my e-mails asking for further explanation. Even if I wasn't sick that day, is it really my fault I bombed that final? After all, his lectures might as well be lullabies. *YAWN*

heres the deal. mack is okay. id recommend him. i however wouldnt say hes easy. he really values his own opinions. his tests are open ended...only if you agree though. there is a wrong and a right answer even when there shouldnt be.

Mack goes off on tangents a bit but overall he's a good professor and he's really understanding about assignments. You have to put in some work, and he's not an easy grader, but he's not out to get you. Leaves lots of comments on papers, so you know why you got the grade you did. I liked his class.

Eric Mack is a great professor. While it is true that he doesn't endorse opinions other than his own, he is never rude or condescending about it. He does talk alot, but if you appreciate intelligent insight you should certainly consider this class...im not a libertarian and i found it enriching. The negative comments are probably from broken egos.

Maybe I'm just crazy...but I like this guy. He talks a lot, yes...but considering I don't really like to speak in class, thats FINE with me. His sense of humor is very interesting and twisted (major points in my book), his explainations are good, and although most seem to disagree with me, he never came off as the least bit unfair.

Mack is by far the most arrogant professor I've ever had. He was extremely condescending in his paper grading and because of that, I found it difficult to speak to him about other matters in class. He also made us pay nine dollars to take our final because of all of the copies he'd run off for us...so strange.

Mack is the most arrogant, useless professor that I have ever had. The comments that he writes on papers are incredibly rude and pompous. With Mack, its his opinion or nothing. He completely turned me off of Constitutional Law after taking his Philosophy of Law class. Avoid his class at all costs.

I hated this class, even though I did well in it. Mack doesn't care what students think and is completely closed to any intellectual discourse. He is picky and pompous, and loves nothing better than to have a student vomit back his own words.

Honestly, I had 3 classes with him, and each was worse than the other. He constantly interrupted any student who tried to make a point or ask a question, he just rambled along all class and then expected the students to regurgitate his words on paper for the tests or papers. I LOVED philosophy before I had him...after, not so much.

Professor Mack obviously really enjoys teaching philosophy and I enjoyed his class because of it. I paid attention to his lectures, and therefore didn't always do the readings, but still got an A-. I also didn't realize that anyone actually pronounced the word "ideas" as "ideers". But, they do. Oh they do.

I didn't need this class, just took it for fun, and I found it interesting. Watch out how he words the questions though, and he's picky about grammar on the tidbits. He's a nice guy though, might not give you the best grades but he will explain why.

Class could be a bit dry at times, but its probably just the material. At any rate, Mack's a really smart, nice guy who did a great job not only teaching the material, but pointing out the potential flaws in the philosophers' reasoning. And he has a rather...interesting sense of humor. Apparently many disagree, but I liked him.

way too smart to be teaching the course...be prepared to not know what he's talking about or have him go completely off topic for the whole class. wouldn't recommend taking a course w/ him...they're much better philosophy professors in the dept.

Mack is an arrogant jerk and his grading is completely arbitrary. I got a B+, that should have been an A, but he is too damn obnoxious and he expects you to repeat everything that he says in class in your own essays. He puts limits on essays and then when people he likes goes well over the limit, he allows it and they get an A. BULL!

Mack was obviously interested in the material he taught, but yet the class was still boring. A bit arrogant at times, his opinions were always the right ones and there was rarely room for outsider comment. Mid term was fairly easy, and the final paper was straight forward. Reading every assignment is a must and the short summaries are helpful.

From the very first class period I butted heads with Eric. He is a bull-headed, pompous libertarian, but respects a good argument. Despite our disagreements, he was always fair, and showed more respect for those who challenged his own presumptions.
