I LOVE HIM. Erik was the best teacher I ever met. Taking his class is so much fun and worth it. You can know many knowledge about very basic things on geology, and his class is on curve. Easy A. Highly recommend!!

Comment:

Grades on a curve. Uses clicker-questions for in class points, up to 20 daily so attendance is important. He makes the class interesting, doesn't require a textbook, no HW. Basically, show up and be awake to pass the class.

I'm taking his class in this semester and so far I can say that he is a great professor. He knows what he teaches and he loves doing his job. Easy going with students and willing to help you when in need. 50% of his tests are questions he has done in the quizzes. Quizzes are done with use of a Clicker (iClicker not accepted).

Comment:

Hes a good professor. Do not miss class and do not forget to do the quizzes online. Exams are straightforward, some taken from the quizzes. He is a very humorous professor. However, he said he would curve grades but he never did for some of our exams so i got a 89.2% . Do not rely on curve and extra credit. Do all the work and you'll pass easily.

Erik's Geology A105 class was the most interesting and relevant class I've taken at a community college. I believe what distinguishes a good professor from a great professor is not only the wealth of knowledge they possess, it is also evident in how much they enjoy teaching. If you have Erik this Spring '18, consider yourself lucky.

Easiest A, I ever took. Don't need a book, just copy the notes that he writes. He also tells you what is important to know because it will be on the test 100%. All his tests are usually 50% old quizzes, and lecture notes. He has quiz every week basically but you can find all the answers from your notes or search it on studyblue or quizlet.

In my 7 years of school, Bender has become my favorite proffessor of all time. .He may come across as unapproachable but once you get to know him, he really grows on you. He even convinced me to become a Geo Major. regardless of your interest in geology, take his class, you won't regret it. his tests are hard but manageable, and the labs are fun.

I love Bender! He honestly made Geology so enjoyable. Show up to class, pay attention to the lectures, take notes, and you'll be fine. I got an A on every test. The way he lectures is different from other professors and it's honestly the best way to lecture in my opinion. Take him if you can!!!

50% of his test questions are from his quizzes. His final isn't cumulative. You don't have to get his book if you come to class and take notes. Gives study guide before test. A lot of extra credit. Honestly THE EASIEST class I have ever taken. It makes High School Health classes look like an AP class. He can be funny, but sometimes annoying.

It wasn't easy, but it wasn't hard. Get your clickers as soon as possible and try not to miss too many classes. The tests are 100 questions, 4 tests in total. One online quiz every week, answers can be found online. Try to do all the extra credit offered, it made my grade go up one letter. Erik is an amazing professor and I grew to love Geology.

His Labs are so interesting and you must be there to get all the material you need for the exams! Although his exams are open note, if you don't understand the material well or just copy from your lab mates you won't pass! 3 exams and 10 lab assignments plus a virtual field trip. Awesome class, I would definitely take it again! No regrets!

Hands down to the best teacher ever! Literally, I'm not a fan of science although I always passed them but I never got anything in return. Dr. Bender is really passionate and made class very interesting! 4 exams and 10 quizzes so not a lot but trust me he is worth taking! I had him for lecture and lab and I always tried to never miss his classes.

I've never had a teacher so passionate about science. He makes you look at the world around you differently. Online quizzes for the chapters, 4 exams throughout the semester, and daily clicker questions for participation points. The exams count for 80% of the grade so STUDY HARD. Its not an easy A, but if you study hard a good grade is attainable.

Easy class to pass if you study and try. You do not need the textbook if you take good notes. His lectures are straight from the book and his tests are lecture material. He gives study guides for each exams and his quizzes/clicker questions are exam questions. Take him for geology and you're guaranteed to pass if you put effort in.

Bender is a great teacher! If you study his quizzes, his clicker questions, and go over the study guides he provide you then you're good to go! No actual real homework except for the weekly online quiz on blackboard. You don't really need the txtbook to pass but it was helpful for me to have it in hand. Try not to miss class cuz there's clicker q.

Erik's great! There are no pop quizzes in this class, only participation questions (which you can use your notes for) and his tests are straight from lectures, which follow his book. Definitely recommend taking him for Geology!

Erik's a great teacher. All of his homework, quiz questions, and test questions can be found online. Mostly found on quizlet and study blue. Study the quiz questions and you'll pass the tests. I got C's on every test but did most of the extra credit options, and i passed the class with a B. Attendance is mandatory because you earn points.
