Comment:

She basically screwed us all over at the end of the course because she said throughout the semester that we could put notes on the back of our formula key and then changed that rule at the end. She also consistently got her own answers wrong on assignments or class examples so that wasn't helpful. She also doesn't know how to use StatCrunch at all.

such a gem after taking stats this sem, i realize how easy i had it with her last sem, test are exactly like the review and it's not a hard class, she's kinda strict on giving out points on tests and HW but other than that a true doll

Syllabus week, I thought I was doomed. She is literally 86 years old. But as the semester progressed, I grew to love the old lady haha she LOVES you if you go to office hours (major brownie points). She has ACCURATE reviews for all tests. She is organized and her class just makes sense. Also, she DOES NOT use a TEXTBOOK. I totally recommend!

This prof at first glance, is a nightmare. Syllabus week I thought I was doomed in calc, but once you realize that she does all the homework in class and gives out the exact quizes as study guides, all you have to do is show up and pay attention. Notes are hard to read bc handwritting, but you get the idea of what they say. Solid choice.

The tests are pretty much the study guide she gives and the homework is graded strictly but quite easy. She's a great professor but it can be Really boring because you aren't allowed to talk in the class unless it is a question to her directly.

I loved this class! Dr. Guerin definitely knows her subject. All of her notes are handwritten. This semester we had 12 quizzes and 4 tests but she gives review sheets and tells you what to study for them! They're pretty much all the same with different numbers. Try not to miss class! No book, but you need Statcrunch for projects! My favorite class!

she's an interesting lady to say the least. half the time you don't know if she is about to keel over and pass out or look at you as if we were 2nd graders. if you pay attention you will pass, seriously it's not hard. show up and participate because otherwise you're going to be in trouble

Comment:

Esther Guerin is one of the few professors I've had who can truly be called a teacher--i.e. she actually knows how to teach. If you've ever struggled with math, then take Dr. Guerin. She's no powderpuff--she knows her subject backwards and forwards, and is very rigorous--but she also really cares. SHU will never find a better math professor.

Don't generally right reviews but felt the need to. There is no way to get a better calc professor. Her notes are great. She gives a review sheet a week in advance which is either the same questions on the test or numbers changed. She is super helpful during office hours. Yes, she is old. And yes she may seem slightly cranky. But its worth it.

Loved this lady!I am a very shy person so I don't like teachers who call on me, which she did a lot.But her questions are easy as long as you are paying attention and if you don't know the answer it's no big deal,she helps you.Her reviews are exact copies of her tests and for homework do it the exact way she says to do it.seriously.Sweet lady

She's an okay professor. She's sooo old and she does everything very old school. All of her stuff is handwritten. Don't talk in her class or she'll get mad. She's sooo helpful if you stop by her office. She'll check all your answers. Just don't get on her bad side and do the homework and test reviews.

By far the best math professor I have ever had. Yes, she is very old, and is very old school with the way she teaches and takes homework, but it's all worth it. Everything seems so difficult when you first see it, then she teaches it and you're golden. Just make sure you do her homework assignments.
