Comment:

Fabio was one of my favorite professors. If you get into SPA 202 I strongly suggest taking him. He seem's intimidating at first but that's only because be wants to make all of his expectations and directions clear. Lot's of participation and class and an overall easy grader. I love him

I was nervous to select Fabio as my professor because of the comments but I am here to say TAKE HIS CLASS. He is the best teacher I have ever had in my life, his classes are fun and engaging, I never once looked at the clock to see when the class was over. Lots of homework every night however only graded on participation and quizzes are so easy!!!!

Fabio Espitia is a good professor. At first, his class gave me a lot of anxiety because if you don't actively participate/speak, he will call on you and make you answer. After I got used to him, my spanish improved so much. Homework is assigned every night, and the class is a heavy load for a 200 level class but he truly is one of the best profs.

Comment:

Some days you love Fabio and some days you do not. He is the one Spanish teacher that I learned the most from; however, he has little caring and sensitivity. I recommend Fabio for those passionate about Spanish. His class is a lot of work. I learned a lot from him but struggled with his attitude and lack of respect for me as a student. Good luck!

Makes you work for your grade but his teaching methods are very efficient. This class with Fabio is a major time dedication but if you're motivated and want to learn Spanish he is the guy to take.

Best Spanish professor i've ever had. He explains things clearly and gives practice constantly until it is almost habit. Very clear on what he expects of you on exams, homework, projects, etc. He always keeps lecture interesting and everyone engaged.

Best professor I've had at Grand Valley. He loves to joke and laugh. Most homework is online and you have it daily. Seems like a tough grader, but he goes by national standards. He's not as scary as he seems. He expects you to behave like an adult and respect his time (he'll respect yours).

Fabio is an awesome teacher. He's interesting to listen to and very funny. Online assignments are available a week in advance so you're able to finish it all beforehand. It's also based on completion, so as long as you do it you get 100%. Follow any instructions he gives you and you'll do fine. As long as you know your Spanish, tests are an easy A.

He is a horrible man, do not let his act trick you. He seems nice the first week but he is a manipulative self centered evil man who does not care about anyone other than himself If you have any documented disabiluty he points you out to the whole class and does not follow accommodations He is very clear on if your Spanish is not to his liking

OK, Spanish is not an easy class... Well, for me anyway. I had to work very hard to get a C. There is a lot of homework every week, and for good reason. There are two projects you will have to do, 5 exams, Midterm, and a Final. D the homework, do well on the projects, and pass the tests and you will be fine. I loved Fabio.

I was very intimidated by Fabio when I first started his class, but he's actually an amazing and funny prof! He makes it clear from the very first day that he has high expectations for you, but if you attend class, follow directions, and participate, you'll do well! We not only learn how to speak Spanish well, but also learn a lot about culture.

Fabio is bomb. Yes there is a lot of homework but it's easy if you pay attention in class. Plus if you are really trying to learn the only way is through practice. So you do the homework and the exams are literally a breeze. He tries to be intimidating but he's honestly really cool. just come to class prepared (textbook & dictionary & homework)

Fabio was a great professor! He is very strict about attendance and it very clear on what he expects of you. There was a lot of online homework and other lessons related to the textbook. Fabio grades strictly but that is because he wants you to see your mistakes and improve by semester's end. He is funny and will always make sure you understand.

He will only speak Spanish, in a 101 course, he will make it extremely hard to pass his exams, and when you ask for help he basically says figure it out on your own. He is very smart and would be a great professor for anything aside from a 101 class. If you're looking to understand the basics, find a new professor

This is the worst professor I have ever taken. He does not care about the struggles in your life. If you are having a very hard time, forget trying to get him to understand, no matter how hard you try. And forget getting help. If you don'd understand anything either, can't get tutor help cause "he doesn't allow it and will know and will fail you".

Worst professor out there. Do not take. Does not accommodate school-related absences, does not allow you to be late - even if something happened, does not allow you to use the bathroom, does not help you when you say you need help. Had a family issue, effecting my ability to come to class and do work - did not care. Would not let me drop. Not nice.

I loved Fabio! You definitely have to attend class and expect to do work on your own but Fabio gives a lot of opportunities for grades, is clear on his expectations, and recognizes hard work. I was never able to really grasp a new language until I took his class! He made learning fun!
