I likied Doran's class. Actually kept my GPA with my major courses GPA. Shadow in the class and see if you will like her and the class. I recommend and enjoyed taking her class.

Ridiculously challenging course simply due to Prof. Lectures are unclear, technology is not her strong suit, she gets easily distracted, & is very opinionated (often about meaningless topics) during lecture. Tests are online and are hard because her lectures aren't done well. You have to read the book in order to get material. Beware of this class!

Dr. Doran's lectures all of class, every class. She tends to get off topic and just talk about the art she has seen, and where she has been. She gets mad when you ask her questions, and doesn't enter grades in correctly. If you do the online practice quizzes before the test, it's an easy A, but a lot of the work you have to do independently.

I have never taken a professor and disliked them as much as this one. Took this class to improve and learn skills involving different mediums, didn't. Teacher's "helping" is taking over the project and doing it for you. Uses class time for HER own working. Expects you to know the medium WELL. Grades based on how she likes it. Avoid taking.

Does not teach you how to use any mediums, expects you to learn them on your own. When rarely given feedback, it is not always helpful. Rarely talks to the students, mostly works on her own projects and even hangs hers next to yours for everyone to compare. Very harsh grader and tests will bring your grade down hard. Study guide doesn't help.

Rarely instructed. Wanted realistic drawings when the class topic was experimenting with different mediums. Rarely allowed students to express their own style. Counted off points on assignments for things that had been previously approved. Rarely understood why so many points were counted off on assignments that I thought were good.

So far in my college career I haven't found a teacher I just really hated until Dr. Doran. One of the most frustrating teachers. The only grades are the tests, she is one of the most boring people I've encountered, and she talks about herself like she is God and until you just want to scream . Study and you'll be okay, but she is the worst person.

I rarely dislike teachers.... I did not like this one. I am a good student and this class was 10 times more challenging than it should have been. Not only is this class useless, but the teach is as well. I HIGHLY suggest taking this course online.

I rarely dislike my teachers, but she is very unclear, and blames the students for her own problems with clarification. While I don't mind people sharing their opinions, she shares hers as if they were the law. Dr. Doran would also start ranting about random subjects in the middle of class, which made us question her sanity. If you can avoid, DO.

Classes were quite boring, and the class notes were very unhelpful on the tests. TAKE THE QUIZZES ON BLACKBOARD! The tests are directly from the online quizzes and not at all from many of the class notes. No outside work required and a few opportunities for extra credit.

She's really boring! If you don't go to class, she docks your grade big time. I had an 84 in the class but my grade was dropped to a 64 for missing too much! Ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and take someone else.

Ok, I had to take this class twice... I accidentally took her the second time as well as the first. She does teach from powerpoint which she gives out, and goes over the study guides the class before tests, however that doesn't support my study style at all. Avoid the teacher if possible. I'm just glad I passed with a D.
