Father Brennan is truly the best English teacher I've ever had. There is a lot of reading, but that's the case with any Texts and Contexts class. He clearly explains the papers and essays and always makes himself available during office hours if you need help. Also if you go to office hours he'll be a huge help with your papers!

Fr. Brennan is a really nice guy, but his class got extremely boring as the semester went on. He dragged talking about the books we read and it got very repetitive. He also had us compare books in our essays that did not really make sense to compare. If you go to his office hours he gives you a better grade on your paper and tells you what to write

Loved him. He's an excellent teacher, and good at getting everyone to participate a little. Basically spoon-feeds you if you didn't do the reading. A huge help during office hours. Such a nice guy--just show up, talk in class, go to office hours, and you'll be fine.

DO NOT TAKE. Unfortunately it is a required class for Accounting majors so avoid him at all costs. He is a very tough grader, is very rude, and does not get the business world at all. He thinks the textbook is always right but then contradicts the textbook when grading papers. STAY AWAY

If you need an intensive writing requirement take Father Brennan. Everything is very straight forward and going to his office hours before each paper assignment helps a lot. Use actions verbs .... you cannot use "is" or "are" in your papers. Quizzes can be a bit of a pain but as long as you skim the text you'll be fine. Overall a good class.

Super nice guy but SO boring. I fell asleep in Fr. Brennan's class atleast once a week. However, he is super clear on what he wants for his essays and assignments and will do anything he can in order to help you and your grade. I definitely recommend him, mostly because he's a really good guy.

Nicest guy but won't give out A's no matter how hard you work. He likes when you go to his office to discuss your paper. Class is very boring, we just going over other students papers. I wish we could have wrote on interesting subjects. Like I said, nicest guy but I would not recommend him. I think it would pain him to give out an A.

SO many papers. There is literally one due every week. And you can never use any form of the verb 'be'. So thesauras.com became my best friend. He's a confusing grader but a nice guy and class wasn't too boring. There is a lot of writing, so if your not a good writer, try not to take him. If you dont have a choice, go to him and he'll help a lot.

I had Fr. Brennan for my whole freshman year through a service learning course. His classes tend to be boring but they are really easy. There are no tests, just response papers and a few major papers. He seems like he grades hard but if you go to him he automatically fixes most of the paper for you and gives you a much better grade.

Great class, response papers 1/week. Term paper 10-12 pgs. A hard grader with midterms and papers, but RPs are graded by grammar, puntcutaion, etc. Big on participation. Pretty difficult to get an A, but interesting material throughout the sem.

father brennan is a very nice person, and willing to give you extra help if you need it. On the other hand he can be an extremely hard grader NEVER use the "to be" form. Lots and lots of reader response essays and 5 big essays, but no tests besides the mid term and final.

very helpful and nice man. Teaches an awesome class. True he talks in depth about sexual things sometimes, but its not that bad. I loved that class, so easy to participate in. Very accepting too to whatever viewpoints you had.
