I agree with the 2 reviewers below me. I'll add a few of my own experiences... An immense amount of HW given out every week with brief instructions and whenever I ask him ?s, he just refers to the syllabus. This is a 100-level course, yet, he treats this course as if it's a 200- or 300-level.

He is not a good professor. Within the first week of the semester he gave a lot of work for English 100. He is never clear with his instructions for the assignments, the way he grades is horrible, he does not grade things in a timely manner, changed the due time from 11:59pm to 9pm when the syllabus says 11:59pm.

I only took him because he had not too bad review, however this is the worst professor I have ever took. 1. does not grade things on time, half of the time I'm confused how well I have done in class. 2. crazy ridiculous amount of work given. 3. When questioned he says look at syllabus 4. NO extra credit 5. he thinks hes the best I DO NOT recommend

I was a little worried since this was my first online course but Professor Acoba was very clear and helpful with his lessons! He gives you the entire semester to turn in three major papers (which can also be resubmitted for a better grade). Extra credit and online chats are also provided that can help boost your grade. Take this class!

Comment:

Professor Acoba was one of the professor that I had that really cares for his students. He is very accommodating. I like the way he present his lessons. It is in order that you will learn every part of writing. He will let you think and is supportive and gives good feedback. He really knows his subject.

I've been out of school for several years, so I was a bit rusty when it came to writing essays. There was a total of 6 essays throughout the course, and before each was due we would need to post a draft for the class to revise. The topics were fairly easy. I am planning to take a WI from him too.

I have learned so much in his online summer class! He is a good teacher, very clear and directs you straight to the point. Intelligent, helpful, fair. Had to do homework every day because it was a 6 week course.

acoba's online class is ridiculous. he says if there are discrepencies in due dates, to follow the one under the calendar? there shouldn't be discrepancies in due dates?! this is an online class! it's hard enough to read through 5 pages of instructions, let alone keep track of which date is correct! EVERYTHING SHOULD BE CONSISTENT??

WWW CLASS. In the beginning it was confusing because he was late on posting assignments so all the assignments came at once. There were assignments due every 2 days. Then towards the ending there were more time between each assignments. The most challenging for me was the time between each assignment but other than that the assignments were ok.

Took his class online last fall. I am no American and thought I would have a hard time but he made English easy to me. I got an A+ and can't wait to take another class from him. Lots to do, demanding of your time, but worth it. Never boring, interesting topics, always available and respond to our emails right away. Great professor.

WWW class. He gave assignments out weekly rather than random days. It was helpful to have the advanced notice on all the assignments. He was very clear on instructions and referred to the textbook a lot. If you want an A+ just meet all the requirements that he lists on his lessons. It helps to ask him what you can do to earn an A!

I have taken francisco's online english 271 course. I would say that his instructions are not always clear. He also plays a lot of favoritism with certain students he likes. The books he assigns are boring as hell-these could put an insomniac to sleep. I would not recommend francisco's class. His grading method is also unfair.

Just finished his summer online class, it was a good experience. Workload is reasonable. Very lenient in grading. A lot of extra credit opportunities. Prof. Acoba is knowledgeable in his field and clear in his expectations. Explains procedure effectively and answers promptly to emails. Pretty chill class and I had fun too.

I took his on-line class and really enjoyed it. I found his instructions to be clear and to the point but found that some of my classmates were having trouble. As with anything, you need to put in effort if you want to do well. My e-mails were answered promptly and the grades were posted in a reasonable amount of time. I really enjoyed this class!

He is horrible. No one understands the assignments he gives because he fails to comprehensively explain what is required. He also gives unrelated material. Ex: Think About It by Frank Conroy reads like an argumentative paper but Francisco Acoba asks us to give an analysis to it as if it were a story. THERE IS NO PLOT. He shouldn't be teaching.
