He's tough and don't call him out in class. I found he was much better if you actually went to his office hours to ask questions. You definitely should read the material ahead of time though. I hated the "no part marks" rule, but he implements it consistently. Final was easy if you studied the assignments.

Definitely an odd fellow. He can be quite hard to understand. He's extremely paranoid about posting solutions for anything (in-class or assignment), which can make it very hard to study. Final was a lot easier than assignments. Overall, not my favourite teaching style, but I thought he was much more effective than the guy who taught 4005.

He doesn't give part marks based on the logic of "in the real world there's no such thing as being partly right." Well guess what, we're in a classroom where you're supposed to be evaluated based on demonstrated knowledge, and there is such a thing as part-knowledge. It seems you're bound to either get an A or a D/F and there's no in between.

He has structured this course to make sure you learn. All you have to do it "follow". His assignments are hard, no doubt about it. Trick is to study the coming lecture and the answers are there. He helps students who put in an effort to study. Lastly, his final was basically a culmination of his assignments; which he marks in detail and returns.

This guy basically gives you assignment questions about stuff he hasn't taught. And guess what the exam is the same.. he will put stuff he never taught basically to keep the average low in the class. This class isnt hard its just plugging numbers but he uses dirty tricks to keep marks low. Hes also full of himself thinks he knows everything! Avoid

I think some people reviewing are not separating the prof from the subject. It is quite possible to get an A in this class, it just requires staying on top of the material, and working with it A LOT more than you would like to. Tax is not like any other subject in business, and requires you to look at it from a new perspective. It takes work.

He is actually a pretty nice person (besides the laugh omg). He probably knows a lot about tax but he's just not good at explaining. The notes and sequence of his lectures don't make particular sense, so it is difficult to follow what he is saying. You will probably end up just using the textbook.

A wonderful prof, knows his stuff, makes effort to impart the knowledge on students, and is very helpful outside of class. If you don't understand and take the time to see him, ask questions, and find out what the problem is, he is more than willing to help. Sometimes a little confusing with his accent, but great prof.

If you go to his class and read his outline, and it says participation marks, DROP the class. He has absolutely no marking scheme for participation. He just gives whatever he 'feels' you deserve. Wastes so much time in class. Very hard marker.
