Doesn't care about students at all. Makes up lectures on the spot. Rambles on about whatever is on his mind. No clue how he got his job or why he still has it. Tests have nothing to do with the text nor the random stuff he rambles off about during lectures. Worst prof at UofC without any doubt in my mind. Switch out before its too late.

If there was ever a class where I felt my grade did not accurately reflect my intellect, it was CPSC 203 with Deur. I found his lectures okay, but I studied the textbook rigorously for weeks only to find that the final was completely unrelated to the textbook. (Now I know all this useless computer stuff, with only a half decent grade.)

Neither great nor horrible as a prof. The class is obnoxiously boring, and Deur doesn't spice it up, but the's not dreadful. Assignments are easy (some TA's are useless though) midterm easy, final a little harder. You won't like him, but you won't hate him either.

The single worst professor I have ever had. Not only is he rude to students he also talks about useless things during class time and comes up with questions that aren't in his notes OR textbook. He asks questions to himself that he doesn't even answer. The class drove me absolutely crazy AND ruined my 3.8 GPA.

Deur appears hard and boring at the start. You need to keep up to date on the lecture material and work for the marks. If you need extra help he can easily help you out. He's a good professor, he is recommended because his tests are all MC... thats really good considering the other cpsc profs use long answer. Take him, study=good mark

His lectures are useless, highly do not recommend him. The other professors teach at a faster pace, but you will come to realize that they are better because this guy doesn't even contribute to what's on the final, nor does he teach half the stuff taught by the others. It's better to take whatever course you're taking another semester than repeat.

Very boring, not sure if that's him or the class though. Textbook is useless, don't bother to buy, just show up to every class and keep your ears open and you'll do fine. He's hard to hear, so sit in the front. Tutorials are a joke, only go for the quizzes, and the TA's are awful.

Such a horrible class, should be easy but he is such a joke. Makes no sense at all, assignments impossible and exams are filled with things never mentioned in the text or lecture. Pretty rude guy if you say something he doesn't like. Didn't create enough copies of the final exam so people had to sit and wait 20mins. Horrible

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!! I have had many bad profs in my 4 years at the U of C, but this guy just takes it. You are required to show up for every boring class because he has no online notes or even a half decent course website. I mean, a computers course without any form of computer help is just inexcusable. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Do yourself a huge favour and DO NOT take this class with him. His assignments so much more difficult then they should be and his exams are ridiculous. Comes up with the most random questions to ask, unless you know your stuff before you took this class you have no chance of doing good. His notes are bad and he's really rude and not helpful at all.
