This guy is something else! Makes learning the material really entertaining, even when most of the stuff is rather abstract. He puts lots of effort preparing his classes so that the learning curve is as smooth as possible. You will have to study the material and the homework and tests are challenging. If you want to learn, this is who you want.

He's the man. Nice guy, down to earth. Posts old exams online and exams given in class are many of the same questions so you know exactly what to expect. Is actually able to answer your questions and go into detail if requested. You realistically can't hope for a better prof in an upper level course. Will take as many classes with him as possible.

Dr. Garvan is a literal angel of the UF Math Department. I have never had a math professor who made learning the material so enjoyable. Everything he says is clear to understand in the midst of a subject that is quite difficult. I wish I could take him for all my math classes.

An awesome professor and one of my favorites in the math department. He has a great sense of humor and stories which always made class worth going to. I'd definitely take a class with him again.

MAS4105 is a pretty diffcult class. The averages for the exam started at a 90 then went down to 60 then 40. He doesn't post your grades online so you don't know how you are doing throughout the semester. He isn't very helpful in office hours either. Just try to avoid if possible.

Dr. Garvin is an awesome professor, he really knows his stuff and his accent really helps capture you in the class. He can be hard to understand at times and his writing is not too great. He gives out quizzes on a random basis, but he puts up hints for his quizzes and tests online, so you know what to study. Highly recommended professor.

absolutely horrible! he is so cruel!! he makes everything so hard. the 3 test averages were 69, 71 and a 79. He gives you extra credit but guess what, its 1 measly point added to HW, which is only 20% of your grade. you cant understand what he is saying or read his writing. avoid this guy at all cost!!!

He was great! I could easily follow what he said in lecture, he put all his notes online too so you didn't even have to come to class, and he allowed you to retake every single quiz in case you screwed up on them. All you have to do is do the suggested homework, and an A is in the bag.

Awesome teacher. He just wants to see you trying and then he will help you out. Love his accent, and his trick of giving pennies to students who catch his mistakes! Sweet teddy bear of a teacher. Just keep up with the work, study your notes and don't miss class. He makes it so interesting and fun.
