I loved this class. Don't be afraid to get involved when there is a discussion. Unlike other philosophy professors, Hale likes hearing original thought. The content is interesting as well. Way better than regular ethics classes. I'd advise to do the readings because they make the class easy and they're interesting and easy.

Easy, interesting class. He likes class discussion and takes a genuine interest in the subject. At the end of the semester, he gave students who were happy with their current grade a chance to opt out of the final.

Wonderful professor. He was very open to discussion among students, and encouraged us to analyze morals and our duties as human beings. If you want to do well, attend class regularly and take good notes. His tests are detailed and require you to really know your stuff. He offers great insight into real-world topics/applications of material.

Horrible class. He said attendance was required, but didn't give points for it. He forms opinions about students and grades you based on them. Man is a bad teacher who doesn't stay on track and grades exams as if you were in a 300 level course. Stay away.

Great professor. Loves to hear what the students have to say even if they disagree with his opinion. Very willing to extend office hours if you need clarity or further elaboration. Take good notes and make sure you understand the main ideas well and you will do fine.

Smart guy, very good at what he does. You need to take very, very detailed notes, with statistics, because his tests are so specific. A is definetly doable. He does however need to realize that all republicans are not just like George Bush.

A good professor. He loves class discussion and respects students' opinions. His tests are so random they are virtually impossible to study for. On exams he will ask for statistics that we never went over and not put what we talked about for 2 weeks in the class. Cool guy but you must do all the reading very carefully to do well on tests.

Terrible professor. Absolutely the most inconsistent and unreliable professor I have ever had. Does not keep on track, does not follow syllabus. No order, very little in lecture on tests, no power point, LOVES classroom discussion thats irrelevant to course and his blood boils if you profess your Christian faith, as if you are less intelligent!

AVOID him like the PLAGUE! WORST professor I ever had! Does not follow the syllabus, doesn't follow the readings that he tells you to read and NOTHING is on the tests that he discusses in class. Skips all over the place. Does NOT keep his word, tells you there will be 2 out of 3 essays and then gives all 3 or tells you he will give sheet prior to t

Unless you have prior history with philosphy, AVOID him at all cost! He teaches the class as if it is a 200 or 300 level, and his grading methods are so radical and inconsistent that it is hard to improve. He has no agenda for the course, and forgets where he left off from the prior class. He didn't care about our performance in the class at all.

I enjoyed the class. I took the class as a usp and ended up making philosophy my minor. He knows what he is talking about and is open to opinions and questions. However, he grades hard and asks broad essay questions.

This professor teaches as though it is a 200 or 300 level class and assumes people know the basics about philosophical writing. He is a nice guy, but seemed too busy with his other classes to even make the tests the syllabus said he would make, you never knew what would be on the test, and we finally had to beg for essay tests. wouldnt take him

Best to actually steer away from this professor if you want an easier grade. I stressed about this class more than my 300 level classes. Not equivalent to the other phi 100 classes w/other profs. His exams are to write 3 essays in 50 minutes. and he grades SUPER hard.

This professor is useless as a teacher. His personal opinions are not only painfully obvious, but he actively disparages those who disagree with him. Tell him that you believe in God and watch his skin boil.

I went into the class hating philosophy, but by the time it was over I had developed an interest. He is really fair in test grading. He makes the eassys really easy. In the end if you were ok with your grade you didnt have to take the final.

He was maybe the most laid-back professor I've had at UK. He didn't mind if you occassionally missed class and was very helpful if you asked questions. He gave you the questions on the test a week before the exam so if you bothered to prepare for them the class was as easy as college gets.

Professional Ethics/Legal Ethics is one of the courses in college you'll remember long after you graduate, and Frank Hale is the best fit for such a class. He's wonderful in class, concerned with every student's understanding and after class he welcomes students into his office hours or by appt. Definitely one of my favorite professors
