Comment:

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Also had him for 3 hour night class. Very easy to pay attention to, incredibly knowledgable man. Allows a 15 minute break where he provides coffee doughnuts, soda fruit and so on. Tests and assignments aren't hard as long as you pay attention and study the night before. Take him! you won't regret it!

I took him for American History II. WHAT A GREAT TEACHER!!! He is the sweetest old guy, and I am soooo glad I took his class. I think he knows everything. Very smart. He tells history like it's a story. I HATE history, but I LOVED his class! Got an A.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE This class. Dr. Nickels some how gets all this history into your brain and you love every minute of the class. He knows what he is talking about and if you have trouble understanding what he is saying he will help you understand. His Test are amazing. Take this class with him he is just AWESOME

Has a passion for history! Had him for a 3 hr night class he keeps you the whole time but it goes by soooo fast. He even provides soda and snacks during his break. You have 3 test counting the final, 1 paper, and a presentation. Very easy just go to class!

I took his 3 hour night class, and he was amazing. He tells history like a vivid story and really makes it intereting! He even let us take a 20 min break and gave us snacks! The tests were based off of like 6 terms from the notes--he tells you which ones to study--and then one essay on outside reading(which is the only reading you have to do)!!!

Took American History 2, which was a very detailed, thorough course..I learned a lot, even tho I was already a History major. My last semester there I took an independent study with Dr. Nickell...extremely thought provoking topic (idea of progress in history) & he was great..lots of reading involved but well worth the time & effort! Recommended!

Dr. Nickell was SUCH a great professor. I was not excited to take this class at all, but now I am really excited about history. Go to class, take notes. He will see you are trying hard and give you the grade you deserve and then some.

He was the best teacher I have had while in college. History isn't my strong point but Mr. Nickel made it interesting and fun to learn about. He also knows his stuff, he can pick dates off the top of his head. Notes are outlined, and he helps tremendously on the tests! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Gives great lectures but dificult tests. Expects you to know a lot of terms and be able to write a strong essay. All writing tests and only 2 of them, a paper and a presentation that is pretty easy but notes are not allowed. Great teacher, but expects a lot, after all its a 500 level class.

I took him as a night course. Excellent professor. I am an A student but have to work for it. I was skeptical of history, but he brought it alive. Take notes, combine it with the chapter, know a little bit about everything he tells you could be on the test and you'll do well. I would take him again. He had snacks and drinks for us every night.

dr. nickell is a great teacher but grades really hard on the tests- as someone else said, history actually becomes a story. he had such interesting things to talk about. take good notes, write everything down!
