Do not take this class. I took a very challenging semester of business classes this semester, and this was the only course I got a B in. No material for tests, and he punishes students for not having the same insanely weird passion for film that he has. I would do anything to go back and not take this course.

The course I took with him was online. Maybe it's easier to be rude when you can't see the other person, but I was not impressed with him. He's a tough grader but always gives feedback. I felt like some of the grades I received weren't fair because I did as the assignment asked. Avoid taking this class from him at all cost.

He is very passionate about what he teaches. The classes are very boring and extremely long. It is very hard to study for the tests and other profs give tests reviews. He does not. You watch very old, boring movies while other film classes watch current movies. Not the worst class but not the best either.

He is the worst professor I have ever had. Do not take this course under any circumstances, because you will regret every second of it. All you watch is Charlie Chaplin films the entire semester, and every other professor that teaches this course is ten times easier.

This class might as well just be a study of Charlie Chaplin. Half of our semester was spent on one actor. I signed up thinking that we would explore breakthroughs in film and innovations in cinematography, instead, we watch silent movies for a couple months. The number of movies with sound that we watched can be counted on one hand. very boring.

The average student who struggles with this class expects it to be easy. This class is NOT "just watching movies." It is a prerequisite for many art/media majors; it isn't just for people who have a Fine Arts requirement. You will learn the basics of movies as a form of communication and art, and you'll learn the theories surrounding them.

Worst class I have ever taken in my life. He was not specific on what we need to do to prepare for tests, and is incredibly passionate about a dumb topic. As a business student, I think it is horrible that I had to take a fine arts class in the first place, so unless you are planning on majoring in film lecture, get out of this class.

He is a good guy and very personable. BUT, if you expect to learn about anything after 1941, don't come here. The class played 4 movies with sound the entire semester. This course ought to be named "The Essentials of Charlie Chaplin" because that's about all we watched. Pretty disappointing to be honest.

Try to get a different teacher for this class. Other teachers show interesting movies and get study guides for the test. This is the most boring class and the tests are very broad and were hard to study for.

Incredibly long and boring class. Frank Scheide is a nice enough guy but lectures verbatim from the essays which are required reading. The most entertaining part is actually watching him fidget and fumble with the lights and computer! Grading is simple enough: Participation (showing up), quizzes, and Mid-Term/Final. Key to pass: read the essays!

This class is very hard to stay awake in. IT IS THREE HOURS long and very difficult to understand. The tests are very detailed and the material is very broad. I would recommend taking this course just not from Professor Frank Scheide.

Great teacher, really nice guy. He's helpful if you go see him during his office hours. His tests are kind of difficult but just make sure you show up to class and do the reading and you'll be fine.

Scheide writes ALL the essays that the tests are over. There are 3 tests all semester, and then the final. My class was from 2pm-4:50pm. You literally watch a movie the first hour and the rest you go over the movie and notes. This class may actually be interesting if he didn't show awful movies; other film lecture professors show interesting films

Read the Essays. They are long, but his tests are very heavy on them. If you do this, and study his lectures, you will be fine. THIS IS NOT A BLOWOFF CLASS.

Horrible Professor. Disorganized. Contradicting information everywhere. Will tell you something won't be on the test..... then it's on the test. I STRONGLY discourage anyone from taking any of his courses.

This man is amazing!!!! You have to be interested in Film to enjoy his class, his tests are very hard but as long as you do the readings and watch the movies, you will succeed. I talk about this class all the time, I learned so much and if you are willing to keep an open mind and pay attention you will be satisfied.

Film lecture was hard but not hard. If you do not read the assigned reading for the class that day it will be hard to pass. I loved the lectures and it was easy to follow in class and take notes. I did not read outside of class and that is why it was hard for me. You will complain about the class every week. Despite the class, he is a good man.
