My favorite professor I had at Auburn. He's a little quirky but he's straight up brilliant. He tests on knowing why rather than just copying a process repeatedly. If you go to class, participate, and make yourself known to him, he's more than willing to help.

I ignored this rating before taking the class and that was a big mistake. He does not help at all and insults his students. Plus, his grading is completely unfair - I may be counted off 10 points but the kid next to me is only counted off one for the exact same mistake. He WANTS his class to get C's. He says it "challenges you". Steer clear.

This man likes to make jokes at his students. His tests are really hard because he pulls really hard questions out on the test. If you try to ask a question he gives really vague answers that make no sense.

I never made higher than 75 on any test and came out with a B. Honors classes are supposed to be more challenging, but this class was beyond that. Tests were very hard to prepare for because questions were always much harder than homework and class problems. That being said, Dr. Uhlig wants everyone to succeed is very helpful if you approach him.

The other reviews are completely right. This man has no idea what he is doing and makes stupid unrelated analogies. Any other teacher would be better than him. He always pulls out really hard questions on his tests that he doesn't prepare us for.

AWFUL teacher! Everything listed in the comments is true!! I took Calc. I (& II unawares) out of Troy University my senior year in high school and still made a 98. I took this class and was failing! The man is impossible! He asks confusing ?'s on tests & makes fun of students openly. After I dropped he brought my tests to class & openly mocked me.

Really awful teacher. Everyone else hit the nail on the head. Insults students, goes off on strange tangents, actually rewarded a student with a peeling bit of drywall. Expects his students to have the same level of comprehension as he does. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, Problems we work in class:5. Textbook problems:3. Test Questions:9

Every other review is entirely accurate. When Uhlig is coherent and not rambling, he is usually insulting his students' intelligence. Other times he starts to mutter and makes weird jokes. Basically, the textbook is the professor, don't expect to learn anything from him.

Any other professor would be easier, but we learned a lot in his class. His tests are really hard, but he knows his stuff. The book is hard to understand but makes more sense after his lectures. We all thought we were going to do poorly, but then he gave extra-credit homework as a kind of scaling near the end of the semester.

This class was filled with theory and proofs that are just flat hard to understand. Dr. Uhlig didn't help us understand very well either. This class was very frustrating and I strongly recommend you get another teacher who can explain effectively. If you enjoy reading math theory and being surprised on tests then this class is for you.

Worst teacher I've ever had. Hard to understand, has horrible analogies, and his tests are insane. Doesn't assign homework and therefore doesn't go over homework. Tests had stuff on it I'd never even seen before.

Awful professor. Sure, he's entertaining to laugh at, but you'll never want to go to class. You can pass... But only by means of your own. Learn to stick with your classmates, you'll need it come the final when he leaves the room...

HARD !!! GET OUT !!!! Tests ARE Difficult and nothing like the problems you work out in class or for homework. I took AP Cal and could have opted out of Cal 1 and I struggled a lot with this class. He is not willing to help or give you extra problems outside of class.

Hard to understand, but be sure to attend class (very important) and write down everything he writes. Then go home and use your book to make sense of everything. The homework and answer key should help you know if you understand the material or not. If you don't get it, find a tutor. I'm no mental giant and scored a high A.

Dr. Uhlig explains the material well (albeit sometimes with goofy metaphors), but his tests are insane. He tries to throw you a bone by providing a lot of opportunities for bonus points and he drops your lowest test grade. He is also very accessible. However, I worked harder for this class than I ever have before and only pulled out a C.Most failed
