Comment:
Professor Metzger is a very interesting and unconventional instructor. This class has nearly no actual lectures or lessons, and consists almost exclusively of students giving speeches, and then being given feedback from Fred and other students. Overall, he's a great person, but he does have a tendency to leave thoughts unfinished.

This was by far one of the hardest, yet most rewarding classes I have ever taken. When I say hard I am talking about having to stand in front of your peers and speak; however, Fred really helps to prepare you for your speeches. He gives good and honest feedback and he makes you work for your grade! He is so inspirational! I def recommend taking him

Best class I've ever taken. Super inspirational prof and classmates. Im usually a shy person and I improved in my speaking skills, but you have to make the effort to get better yourself. Was disappointed I didn't get a super speaker (95) but don't let that discourage you. FYI, sad speeches usually get a 95 ..

I love public speaking, so I enjoyed Fred's class. I could understand if people who do not like speaking may not enjoy the class because he is very blunt and will give lots of constructive criticism. I did feel that he cared about every student's progress and made people participate. Really got to know my classmates and enjoyed the course overall.

Professor can be hilarious and a little weird. The class will be an easy A as long as you show up to class every time. He grades tough but not too bad. Even if you have an emergency or family absence, he will not excuse you.

HE was super easy. Fred likes to hear himself talk basicly. At the end of every speech the class is required to give feedback and it actually makes everyone grow off of each other

Fred Metzgar is a curious fellow. There were parts of the course that I was not really prepared for. These parts should become evident once in the class. Saw and heard things that were a little shocking - but not from the professor. Interesting things happen during the student speeches. Fred Metzgar is a good guy and the class is enjoyable.

THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS! Don't believe the other reviews. If you show up late you will not pass. If you miss class you will not pass. If you have your phone out you will not pass. Fred treats every speech like it matters. He expects you to encourage each speaker.

The class was great. I was so afraid of giving speeches. Fred went way out of his way to help. As a fellow shy person he is really really understands how hard this is for some of us. Fred gave me one on one help for all of my speeches. For four my speeches he spent forty minutes each working with me, listening and giving feedback. Who does that?

Great class. So many reviews have said the class is easy. Those who say the class was easy don't get it. This was not the point at all. Fred makes it easy for students to get up and try. He encourages failure as part of the learning process. Fred get's you hocked in to the process then encourages you to do your best.

Fred makes the class fun, and enjoyable even when presenting a speech can be nerve wrecking to some of us. All you ever really do in class is either listen to people present their speeches, or do your own. He's a really easy grader even if you're a horrible speecher, as long as you make improvments, and show up to class you'll easily get an A.

This class is an easy A IF... you show up. He usually grades between a 93-96 for each speech, and likes to be entertained. And by entertained I mean it doesnt matter the topic of speech as long as you sound like you know what youre talking about and are completely over the top excited about it. There for there's no need to buy a book, or study, or basically really try because youre going to get a passing grade. If youre looking for substance or to be inspired then hes probably not the teacher for you. His feedback consists of... "Its two points so why do you care if youre still getting a passing grade." Besides that he's not a very likeable guy. Also, be ready to hear you know, Ive never said this before but Im going to go there today.

The class is insanely easy. Always attend class, be loud while speaking and talk about stuff you know about and you will do fine. People talk about cheating spouses and why they love their dog and all sorts of stuff. Easy A and great experience.

Fred is a GREAT professor. I went into this class just needing the credits but I learned SO MUCH! Fred gives you encouragement and only wants you to succeed! My only complaint is that he likes to hear himself talk a little too much. ;) We could have gotten through a lot more speeches if he hadn't talked quite so much. But overall, he's great!!

i was extremely nervous about this class, and not til a year later am I realizing how much of an impact he personally made. This class is great for any person in this world. Fred showed me simply that everyone has a physical voice and not to fear opinions of others. i was not fearful of what others felt of me necessarily but how i felt about myself

Fred is fair and consistent and if you go in serious and focused on all your speeches, you will do well. He likes things that are emotional (funny, sad or passionate) Class is perfectly laid out and flows easily, you will gain a lot from this class in every way!
